I feel totally hurt by my incestuous family. My parents said they wanted me to come for christmas but they sure didn't act like they wanted me there. for example, I had to stay an extra day because my car broke down and my mom didn't want to serve me any dinner. SHe finally did but it was really awkward and I feel really frightened of all of them. I didn't feel welcome or loved. I felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of me. I feel scared to ever go there again. I felt isolated completely from my friends in my hometown and wished I was with them. I took two anti-anxiety pills to calm down when I got home, thank goodness. Did anyone else have a terrible Christmas? Trying to keep my chin up but feeling really lonely and sad.
I wonder if you have a relationship with your family during the rest of the year. How is it? Do you get along better? Are they in your life? Sometimes the forced holiday get together can bring the worst in people, especially dysfunctional families.
If you don't have a relationship with your family during the year, there shouldn't be a point to have to go through such an ordeal with people that aren't part of your life. If otherwise they are in your life, it'll be interesting addressing the attitude with them directly.
I don't know anything about what kind of relationship you have with them, but I hope the new year brings better memories.

What do they give you that made all the fear and anxiety worth it?
Judge people by their actions and not by their words, trust your instincts. If your instincts tell you not to be there, then don't go again.
Mine was horrible as well. At least you weren't alone in feeling this way?
