Well, you're not alone anymore. Is there anything that forces you to see them? I know those ties are hard to break; I finally decided not to see my parents anymore as of last August. Both my parents are my abusers and I still try to be a "responsible son", but what I have done is more enabling their cover up and dysfunction.

Don't know what happened this last time I saw them last July that they got on my last nerve. I couldn't stand a second with any of them, and everything they said made me very angry.

Sadly, too many mothers prefer to be wives before mothers and prefer to not believe their children when they are abused by the other parent. I'm sorry that you have to bear such pain from the people who are supposed to love and take care of you. Hugs.

I cut my abusive dad out of my life. I think if I'd tried to have a relationship with him, I would not have been able to have a relationship with me and the split-off parts thereof.

You don't owe them anything. You don't owe them a fake relationship that makes them feel better and hurts you.

You are not obliged in any way to keep up contact with your abuser - it's so hard when it's your own dad (me too) - we just want to love them, or have them as...dads. I'm just saying - if you feel obliged, you're not. And your mother has made her choice - she's hung you out to dry, so as not to be confronted with the truth.
Maybe if you can't handle the facade anymore, you'll be able to keep yourself safe.

I have discontinued contact with my parents, my Father the abuser and my Mother the disbeliever. I will no longer be a party to their denial. If they can offer nothing constructive to your life then you might want to ask yourself if you really want them to continue to be a part of your life.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to.
You don't have to see them at Christmas, you don't have to talk to him on the phone.
You can decide who you see and who you talk to.
People who cause pain and grief are not worth it - no matter how related to you they are.
