Yes my brother acknowledged the abuse and done therapy- though not directly with me and my parents have also appologized to me that it happen.

My brother was dying and he looked at me and said, " I am sorry for everything". I just figured what he meant. He didn't say what he was sorry for. It helped at the time. Because I forgave him, but I forgave him for what I knew ( the feelings and things ), but as I start to relive this I can say that there is a lot more to do. I didn't realize that he messed me up as much as he did. I didn't realize that all my life I have done things that I did not know were being done because of the abuse.

My dad said he was sorry, but when my step mom died, his bad behavior slowly came back, so I wonder whether he really even meant it then. I think he was forced to say it, because my step mom read the letter.

My father said he was sorry almost every time after he did it. So no the apology meant/means nothing to me. My mother has never apologized for staying with him, nor explained her reasoning for doing so.

As I sit here, read stuff and think some things come to me. I believe in my case he probably was sorry for everything he did to me. Some thing had to have happened to him when he was a kid to make him do this to me. He was later ( not right after ) so sorry. On his death bed apologized a few times and he was crying. He didn't say what he was sorry, but I knew

I am sure that he was sorry for the acts. I am not sure he even knew the depths of my pain. I didn't realize the depths of it. I knew more of what he did to me than he probably did and I had no clue even on that until recently. At the age of 47 I came to realize he really messed up my life. I have done things for years and didn't know why I did them. I am sure I will continue to find more out while I am on this journey.

I have been reading a book "The Sexual Healing Journey" by Wendy Maltz I highly recommend it.
