I know how you feel I have three that live very close(one on the same road as me).Call us overprotective parents but my husband and I never let our child out of our sites now.

I have a 12 year old granddaughter that walks between her father's house and mine alone, not anymore.

Not good and the thought makes my skin crawl - but at least you know who he is and can warn your granddaughter to keep well clear of him. And if anything happens then the police know where he is and will be knocking at his door first.

I am more concerned by the ones who are still unknown, who are free to groom our kids.

I won't let her be outside alone. I have suspicions she has been abused because her mother had a violent child molester babysitting for her when she was younger and her mother didn't think there was anything wrong with that. I have an application for my tablet that I can enter any address in the U.S. and it will show me the child molesters around that address, their offences, their addresses and names. It's updater regularly and I check it often.

We took her mother to court and the judge let her retain custody even when she said most of the people she knows are sex offenders. Massachusetts is one of the most child molester friendly states in the U.S.

I agree totally with breaking. I check the map frequently so I know how close to me those heathens are.

That is sick, I know about the ones in my area as well. You know what gets me is they get so little time sentenced! Some don't even get time! Some never even get convicted.....
It makes me so angry,.

Two recent stories in the UK:

a man convicted of downloading 200 images of child abuse is cleared to work again with children because it was only low level.

an artist - Graham Ovenden - convicted of indecent assault and 2 other charges against child models 20 or so years ago has received a 1 yr sentence, suspended for 2 years (so if he is good for 2 years he won't spend any time in jail). In this one the prosecution are appealing the sentence.

It is so horrible. What is it, they must know the damage it does to these children. Are the judges really that uncaring? Or are they ignorant?

^ I'm going to go with uncaring.

That and brainwashed by this patriarchal society into thinking that men rule woman and adults own children.

Only in the Western world are pens chained to the counter in banks to keep you from stealing them but people not locked up for abusing children. :/

One thing that is good is that both the decision is being looked at again and it is likely that the prosecution will ask appeal for a harsher sentence, so they are not being taken lying down.

Society and our judicial systems mirror on a larger scale the denial and silencing of an abusive family dynamic.When a victim of sexual assault chooses to seek justice they are often faced with either a person(a detective,DA or judge) in denial about their own abuse issues thus they deny victims or they face an abuser that has wormed their way into the judicial system in order to protect themselves from future accusations from their victims.Either way our communities lose because these people entrusted with the duty to protect us let child rapists walk free.I have been proven this numerous times while seeking justice for my daughter and myself.For example I went to file charges in my home town on my uncles and past abusers.Unbeknownst to me the detective there was related to one of my past abusers and she revictimized me by having me involuntarily committed for no reason.Later when I found out she was related to one of my past abusers I confronted her superior about it.This superior promised to have my case changed to a state case.Finally when I got to talk to state police the attitude of the detective there was just as bad.This detective had the nerve to tell me just because my uncles did it once and were convicted of it doesn't mean they would do it again.This detective told me this even though my uncles had been convicted of child molestation and sexual assault long after the time I said they abused me.Not to mention that this police departments own website states that sex offenders have numerous(up to 300) victims in their lifetime or before they are caught.I thought to myself as he was blathering on (which I should have said out loud to him) have you read your own websites research on sex offenders?It got to a point to where I was arguing with this detective and when he realized he couldn't win the argument he hurried off the phone.Complete and utter BS.I have learned the hard way how bad revictimization is in the judicial system.I now fully know why we face such an epidemic of abuse in our society.

Society is changing and thankfully things are moving forward. Its hard to be in the middle of a changing society.
History -- Blacks were a non people treated as property
- Homosexuals were mental cases
- Women were mistreated and unequal to men
- First Nation Aboriginals were kenneled and killed like dogs
- Jews were gases and marked as non human
The list of morbid tales are long and some things haven't even changed yet! let's hope they do --- Incest runs rampant, rape continues, exploitation continues... but I believe its changing!

The family court system is a joke that destroys children's lives. I know from experience that the courts will not even listen to the child unless the child is older and even then they don't believe it. They do not work for the welfare of the child, they work to satisfy their own prejudices.
