Incest Survivors Support Group
Incest refers to any sexual activity between closely related persons that is illegal or socially taboo. Consensual adult incest is very rare. Incest between adults and prepubescent or adolescent children is a form of child sexual abuse that has been shown to be one of the most extreme forms of childhood trauma. If you or a loved one is a survivor of incest, join the group...
Neither are lawsuits.
I'd want to put something like "Welcome to________, home of a pedophile-friendly police force."
Discuss it with your hubs, because it could cost a lot. If you think it's worth the crap you're gonna get, go for it.
what lousy jerks - do you want to talk about how they victimized you here? that is free. :-)
hugs to you wheezie - you are very wise and kind. stay strong.
IMO, it's only a good idea if it leads to positive change. What kind of results do you hope to get from the billboard?
Is there something that can be done with your energy that will lay the groundwork to change how the local police operate?
You're too damn smart Ms. Wheezie to create more stress for yourself by getting arrested or sued. And the police would have the last laugh while continuing to re-victimize people.
How can we change this?

Thanks Hylie,Unomas, Dragonfly and SuzA. I think I am going to search locally for how many survivors this police department has revictimized and start an organization to fight what they are doing.I mean how can we turn the tides on this epidemic of abuse we face these days if the perpetrators are not made to pay for the offenses they commit? Things definately need to change in a major way.
I too have dissociative amnesia and DID. It makes life so complicated. I'm sorry you are having to go thru this, you shouldn't have to.
My own personal opinion, I wouldn't do it. I may find some route to redemption, but a public billboard wouldn't be it. I think there could be legal repercussions that may not be worth it. I would maybe put some on the editor's page in the paper.
Best of luck to you.
A while back just to make sure about how severe my abuse was (you know how we doubt sometimes) i called the police dep and i told of my story as i "i know a child that is going through this"....Well they imediately put a detective on the phone...But then i said "well actually that happened to me long time ago"....The detective goes "So why now?!!"........Like why did i wait so long and why was i calling now, even though i explained to him.
That is exactly what happens to us and they should know...In fact that is why there should be NO stats of limitations....Some of us don't even know what hit us till many, many years later. We don't understand it specially if there was not a lot of physical abuse.............The sexual abuse without violence is very confusing to us........and i remembered very little.
The police dep needs to incorporate a psychology 101 to their training and staff.
You have to understand the basics of psychology to work with people like they do.
What about another idea.Like a FB page or something?
I've done that before with a Health clinic that ahd horrible counselors...On "add a recommendation" i write what happened to me there a warning to anyone seeking counseling there.
