i have had this for 13 yr and my doc gives me stuff to stop me goin and stuff to make me go!!! lol
I have had every test in the book to rule out everything and be diagnosed with IBS.
I've been tested for Crohns Disease. Had colonoscopy, upper GI & small bowel, blood tests, stool testing ect.
I guess IBS-C might be easier to deal with because you do not have to go to the bathroom as much. If I had IBS-D predominantly I would have to quit my job, it would literally ruin of what is left of my life.
Meds that help..Geez, i've tried a lot. I have giving up. I haven't taking anything in a long time except for an occasional (maybe 5-7 times a year) Hydrocodone (Vicodin). I get a prescription for that every year for the really bad episodes. It is the only thing that helps or at least take the edge off the pain. The good thing about Vicodin for me anyway is it helps with the pain and it relaxes me, gives you a good feeling for a couple hours. You have to be very careful since it is addicting. I rarely take it. It is an emergency pill for me when the pain is really really bad. I don't see any problem using it maybe 2 or 3 pills a month if you have to. I take it a lot less than that though. I use Vicodin anywhere from 1-2 pills every 6 months to 6 pills in 6 months. Taking them not often like me will keep you from getting addicted and a regular 5mg dosage will always be enough. If you get addicted you will find yourself having to take more dosage and it will be hard to get weened off, so be careful if you try it.
