Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.
Im 25yrs old and just gave birth to my 1st and i guess my last baby. I really need somebody to talk to.....i went into labor couldnt dilate past 5 cm so i was taken in for a c-section....after my son was born my uterus would not contract and i started to bleed out.....so to save my life they gave me a hysterectomy......i learned this news while i was still sadated, i heard the doctors talking to my mother while in was in the ICU.....im greatful to have this beautful baby boy but i cant help but be so depressed knowing that i cant birth another child.....i still have eggs but who's to say anyody will carry a baby for me and my fiance.....i have have mutiple miscarriages be 4 the birth of my son....this was the only successful pregnancy i ever had and it ended this way......im so emotional i cant stop crying...has anybody else every been through this???? at such a young age???? can someone just please give me a few words of encouragement because i need it right now.....im sooooooooo sad
So when the bleeding didnt stop they decided to take me to the O.R. to try to "pack" my uterus with gauzes or something I dont really know, at this point i was blacking out cause I was losing so much blood. All i remember was the doctor waking me up telling me that i have to have a hysterectomy .
The next thing i know I was waking up in the recovery room. I wish that i can say that it will all blow over and you will be fine in no time. but I honestly cant. I still cry and its been almost two years now. Just the thought of NEVER having your own baby again really gets me depressed.
Since then its has gotten a little better but it seems to hit me all over again like a ton of bricks when the "baby" wave happens and everyone starts to have babies. I have done soooo much research on pregnancy after a hysterectomy I dont know what to do. I think that if we had some kind of hope like that then maybe it would make us feel just a little better.
