Hysterectomy Support Group
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). Although there are conservative alternatives, hysterectomy is performed for uterine fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic relaxation, heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, and cancer.

Hello, I'm 6 days post op from my total hysterectomy and 1 ovary removal as well and I am wondering if anyone has any fears about getting blood clots post op..? Does anyone know anyone that has gotten one after her operation and if so how long after..?
I'm just scared stiff about getting one and keep moving my legs constantly while sitting or laying down to help prevent it.... any other ideas..? I would just like to have peace of mind about this........

Hey Sharon! I'm happy to see your doing good. If you havent gotten a blood clot by now your doing great! just remember the one sign of blood clots is your leg will be warm to touch and remember the test I was telling you about....have your hubby hold your foot while your sitting up...relax your leg and let him hold your foot and push forward with your toes and hold for a few seconds and then do it the opposite way. If you dont feel anything thats a good sign. its been a week now and if you were to have a blood clot it should have happend by now. Also remember just because you think you are feeling pretty good you still need to follow all the do's and donts. Your still healing from the inside! Hugs..xx Staci

Thanks Staci XX I guess I'm begining to relax a little about it by now..... I guess that noone out there has heard of anyone getting a clot so no news is good news!!!?? Hey did or do you have any ongoing bladder pain from your surgery...? The first couple of days when I voided it would be intermittent, stop, start, stop etc etc but now it feels like half way through my bladder is being punched or convulses and it hurts! Its not burning like a bladder infection tho.... Think its normal? How's are you doing these days,? Hope you r feeling better 2....? Take care ..., Sharon XX

hey!! ya know when i got my blood clot last week, the doc finally told me that she thought i got it because my cervix was cauterized and it was from me over doing it. so i definitly wouldn't worry now, most people get the serious blood clots within a few days from surgery..... also about the bladder, yeah that feels crazy!! sometimes i have to go to the bathroom and it feels like a gallon and then its nothing!!! it has lots of spazms and flutters alot, and thats 100 % normal, my doc told me to expect all that. and sometimes i feel like twinges and burns for a second, but its fine.!!!!

Ha ha ok Danielle, I will relax about that one 2 lol. I just wonder if they tank it outta the way while they r doing their thing inside you and knock it around A little then give it a few pokes and squeezes when their done...? Lol. Whatcha doing today?

hahahah!!! thats funny!!! well my doc was headin out of town for the fourth of july, i bet she never had any time to poke or squeeze my bladder!!!!!lol!! but i was told that the bladder does that cause sometimes they have to detatch and reattach it and also from the catheter being inside. but today i feel pretty good, thank goodness, except this morning i threw up from the antibiotics again! they really do me in, but its so weird cause it lasts about an hour and i feel great again! well today all i did was go to burger king and stuff my face!lol!!! what did you do?

Awwwwww you threw up again..!? Even if you take it with food? I hope that you r having time 2 digest the pill first else you might not be getting enough of you're meds..? Today I did 2 loads of laundry really slowly as it doesn't feel 2 good bending over yet lol ? And mostly sat on my back deck watching my guy install deck lighting ... Its hard work sitting there ya know!!?
