My TSH is at .01 for a few months now and my doctor is horrified. I am not but there does seem to be some conflicting opinions on this when it gets under 1. Mary Shoman's post today re: Dr.Gottfried's recommendations, suggest not getting it under 1.

I haven't seen any *real* evidence as to why we should be concerned with TSH at all once thyroid medication has been introduced. It, in effect, disrupts the feedback loop.

So, it sounds like your doc is a TSH worshipper.

I don't feel well *at all* if my TSH is at 1 or above. I can't function. What you need to focus on is Free T3 and Free T4 and those levels need to be above 50% of the range at least - and that's far from optimal for me.

TSH is crap for sure, but there still remains controversy about it even amongst some enlightened doctors.

i would not call her a TSH worshipper since she let me get to .006. Let's see if she lets me stay there. The thing is, I really feel great. Very happy and symptoms are mostly gone.

Doctors that don't understand thyroid disease think that a low TSH means the patient is hyperthyroid. Hyperthyroidism is just as unhealthy/dangerous as hypothyroidism but doctors seem to freak more about hyperthyroidism.

If you are without symptoms and your vitals, etc are all "good", there's no reason why your doctor shouldn't let you continue on your current dose

I am aware of at least one TSH-worshiping doctor who changed his tune after reading the paper I linked above

It might help transform other doctors if they are given the opportunity to read it.

Thankfully, my doctor is aware of the fact that my Graves' antibodies suppress TSH and having them is truly my saving grace with her

I'm confident about that because she completely dropped the ball with two Hashi's people I referred to her...one of those people was on meds, had low-range FT4/FT3 and TSH above 2

For whatever it's worth, on a "good" day, my TSH is .007-.008. It's usually less than .005.

I do always get my labs done in the afternoon because my doctor draws blood in her office and has limited morning hours

My TSH would most likely be higher if I had labs in the AM......maybe it would be .01-.02 :)

Thank goodness my appt went very well. She didn't care about the TSH because I feel fantastic! Love this practice!

As long as your frees are good, then you should be fine.The fact is you feel great and if everything else is good, like your vitals (heart rate,B.P) then like CD says it's okay.

Dr. Klein, on Heather's excellent post today says that he doesnt care if TSH is zero. There is so much conflicting information about everyhing as usual but I would guess he's right.

Dr. Klein was referring to a TSH of zero for thyroid cancer patients. I wonder how he feels about the general population?

My TSH is a .008 and Hotze says he could give a that's fat ass. TSH is useless according to him. And he has treated over 30,000 people at his clinic.

I have not one symptom of hyper, even tho that stupid test claims I am.
