It is my understanding that it is more important to monitor the Free T3 and Free T4 (not T3 and T4)results. You may have to ask your doctor to run these or find one who does.
Sometimes endos are not the best to see because they often only go by the TSH result.
I recommend reading as much as you can so you can get the best treatment. There is a great post on the board about good books to read. I will try to move it to the top.
1. I took Sea Kelp + Selenium.
I kept increasing sea kelp tablets by half a tablet each week until my body told me to stop.
They gave me lots a energy so I had to stop taking by 2 PM. The IODINE in the sea kelp delivers energy and benefits to the thyroid. I did research that led me to believe that people with Hashimoto especially need this Mineral.
Selenium=I took 1 tablet daily.
I let my PCP know and that I wanted the TPO re-checked.
IDK how long I took the tablets but I cut the TPO from 1674 to 408.
2. I learned by accident to start taking the Armour AND Levothyroxine at night or bedtime.
I felt INSTANT relief in symptoms and others disappeared.
I learned that by taking the thyroid medication during the day, ALL of it ended up in the toilet.
By taking it at bedtime, I learned that my body absorbed ALL of the medication. since I had INSTANT relief in the morning.
There are so many advantages to taking it at bedtime --
Can have coffee when I get up
Can eat when I get up
No longer get up earlier to take thyroid pills
No longer wait 30 min to eat or drink in the morning
