The doctor had prescribed an adrenal supplement that included whole adrenal tissue from cows. As a vegetarian, that bothered me so much that I cried every time I ingested the pill.
I noticed after 3 days of using this, that I started to get really aggressive and could not get to sleep at all even if I was exhausted.
Worse than that, the supplement did nothing to relieve the ragdoll symptoms and I by last night, I was looking for food - any kind of food I could get - when wired and tired in the evening.
Has anyone guessed the secret yet????
If you haven't: the well-meaning doctor was not supplementing my very low cortisol. What he was doing was feeling me adrenaline, which I 100% DO NOT need and appears to have offset all the gains I was recently making from an increase in my slow-release T3.

Next step? (As prescribed by Dr. ME) 1/4 tsp of OTC .1% hydrocortisone anti-itch cream, applied daily. You can't beat the price and the availability....

Wish me luck today - it is my first day back in the office after the Labor Day weekend. I hope I will have some Verticality after 3:00 when I usually turn into a ragdoll....
If I do end up needing the steroids, your great advice has really calmed me down about making sure I get the right medication, regardless of what those "experts" (ha!) say.

And then I will splurge and take my very own spit test so that I can have the results to show my primary care physician when I do my annual "wellmess" visit in October.
