I have been reading the book "The Thyroid Alternative REnew Your Thyroid Naturally" by Dr. Nikolas R. Hedberg. He gives great information about all the glands and how they work together along with digestion.
Quoting from the section he writes about the adrenal "Has your physician adequately assessed your adrenals before treatment? It is very irresponsible for any physician to treat thyroid hormone dysfunction without thoroughly assessing adrenal gland physiology and of course, blood sugar."
I wish doctors would do more than that. I believe if my doctors had asked about major changes in my eating or life that happened before I was diagnosed with hypothyoidism I wouldn't have had to go on the medicine. I found the correlation myself and finally made the adjustments back to before.
I am now 4 weeks off and feeling better.
If a man who is taking testoterone they know that his testes shrink and if someone takes hydocortizone too long their adrenals stop working doesn't it make sense that if they give us thyroid medicine instead of supporting it that our thyroid would stop working?

Those are issues that are essential for our treatment.
The bottom line MAY be that if our adrenals or thyroid are shut down permanently they do require replacement therapy forever.
Permanently from disease or hormone supps, if they are shut down and not producing hormones, they must be supplemented or we die.
It can be construed in some instances as the chicken or the egg.
We've had this discussion before on here, many times, a lot of the members were diagnosed at the most stressful time in their life, so Was I. Nothing else was ever checked.
It's been 4 days, no thyroid medication.
My other hormones were down to Zero. I've been given some high-potency vitamins for adrenal fatigue that I take 4 times daily and feel great.
It's strange NOT to be taking any thyroid medication anymore but lovin it.
I'm so glad for you. It is strange not taking thyroid medicine. I feel like a kid playing hooky.
