How long have you been on Synthroid? Do you feel all better on it, I have read bad things about it, that is why I ask. Have you tried Armour yet?
I have adrenal insufficiency and I do have the shoulder pain you talk about, but it should go away while I treat my adrenals with HC.

I have the same shoulder pain, but I didn't think it was related to Adrenal insufficency. I guess I will find out if I need to take cortisol again, when I go back in December.
I don't know if it is related to the TSH, that is interesting..

I am not positive that the shoulder pain is from adrenal problems. In fact I am thinking that the shoulder pain is from Gall Bladder problems. So far my mother and bestfriend have both had to have their gall bladders removed due to this shoulder pain, and now they have no more shoulder pain. Get your gall bladder checked out.

Thanks for the "heads up" on the Gall bladder. My brother had his removed after having a pancriatic infection, that almost killed him. How do they check the gall bladder?

They can do u/s, ct scan, xray and blood tests to rule out gallbladder problems.

I just had this same shoulder pain you described. I don't know what causes this. I am new to hypo thyroidism and from reading all of these posts it looks like I have a lot to learn!!!
I will tell you, until you figure this out, thermacare heating pads rock!!

I got the shoulder pain too, its cruel. I didn't connect it with hypothroidism though untill I read this post. But is it the complaint or the meds that gives us this pain?

I get the pains really bad when I take my Armour. So I quit taking the Armour and the pains went away. Back then I was taking Armour sublingually (melting under tongue) and taking it on an empty stomach. Now I take swallow it whole and eat food with it, I don't seem to have those pains now.

This is so weird. I actually went into the ER last night with pain in my shoulder, jaw and a really upset stomach, and my regular blood tests came back fine, but I had mentioned off hand that I had symptoms of Hypo, and guess what? I have it. I guess it's supposed to come up between 2-4, and mine was a 6. I have felt like crap for years, but I DO have those painful shoulder attacks, and stiff neck.... But I hear this could be inflammation of the upper body from Hypo? Ugh, I was diagnosed just last night, and given Synthroid. Going to get it filled tonjight. They gave me 50mcg. I called my friend who's a doctor and he said it would make me feel a lot better. What's the bad stuff? Or do I want to know?

I don't believe in using Synthroid. I know that it works for a very small percentage of people, but most do not do well on it. You should find a new doctor who will give you Armour. I have a list of doctors if you need it.

Maybe it's a guy thing, but I had the opposite experience with synthroid. I should have been having the time of my life having just retired from my first career when I started feeling like I was 100 years old. Nothing critically or horribly wrong, just nothing right.

I started having heart palpitations which caused me to see my doctor. Oddly he mistook something I said about my family history and thought I should have a TSH test, which came out high.

I started on .025mg of synthroid and within two hours everything that was out of sync started coming back together. The creaking joints and muscle pain abated and I felt my energy level going up. It took a couple of months to fine tune the dosage but I have been at .1mg for 18 months with great results and no ill effects. I just make sure I take it at the same time every morning about an hour before I eat anything, and I am good to go!
