I have hypoglycemia and right now I am borderline diabetic, so I have to check my blood sugar twice a month to monitor it. Has your doctor put you on a regime to check your blood sugar? Check the web for sites that cater to diabetes and you will find lots of links for diet changes and support.

The endo I had been going to had not suggested monitoring my blood sugar level when diagnosing me with reactive hypoglycemia. From what I have read avoiding simple carbs and eating frequent smaller meals helps. I am just interesting in meeting and discussing the specific condition with others that have it.

I have Reactive Hypoglycema, it's caused by Thyroid Disease == right? I have a hard time with it when my thyroid levels are out of range.

I don't know whether reactive hypoglycemia is caused by hypothyroidism, but it does seem like quite a few people have both which I find interesting.

Sure it can be, Go Wikipedia - Reactive Hypoglycemia. It lists six different types/causes, 1 is horomonal hypoglycemia caused by hypothyroidism. Check.

I know that I am hypoglycimic, not sure which one, I done a 3 hour glucose test and the last reading was 45, but all they said was to watch my diet, I really have bad doc, I have changed docs so many times, right now I am so tired I am just giving it a rest for a couple of months and then I will be looking again for a new docs I have a very sick MIL and I just don't have the time right now to look for a new doc.

Dr. Steven Lange has a book, Thyroid Specialist, wrote a book called "The Riddle of Illness Solved." He has a whole chapter on Hypoglycemia and it explains why hypothryoidism causes it.

If anyone has hypoglycemia AND ADULT ACNE, I would reccomend having your Adrenal Glands checked for Adrenal Insufficiency. I suffered from Reactive Hypoglycemia for 20 years til I got my Adrenal Diagnosis and medication, now, I never get hypoglycemia anymore. My cause has been found and corrected and I started this group!

It sounds like I might have this. random weakness, lightheadness and anxiety, I feel better after eating. I'm going to research this...I see my Dr. next wed. I'll bring it up

Hi, I to have it. I am hungry all the time and I get shaky. I am not sure what I should be eating until I see a dietitian. I also wake um 2 or 3 times at night feeling hungry. Are youn doing the same.

I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia about a year and half ago. I'm still working on managing the symptoms and getting my diet to the point where I don't "sugar crash" on a daily basis. Figuring out which carbs/sugars to cut out of my diet, and which ones (and how much) I needed has been the most difficult part for me.

I've read that there may be a link between hypoglycemia and thyroid disorders in several different places (not just wikipedia). The odd thing for me is that about two years before I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia (RH), I was diagnosed with HYPER thyroidism and treated. After 6 months on anti-thyroid medication, my TSH and other levels went back to normal and have stayed there. My endo never did figure out why my thyroid went nuts, so I have no way of tying it into my RH.
