Rash and other things

Hey y'all,

I have had low thyroid (diagnosed) for about 6 yrs. I was on 3 grains of a medicine called "Nature-throid." Recently, my thyroid went way out of whack, and I am experiencing the following symptoms:

-swelling in my feet/ankles
-amenorrhea (missed period for several months... not pregnant!)
-really itchy skin!

The last thing is killing me. Has anyone else ever had an itchy rash from this?? It's all over my body. It started on my stomach, moved down to my arms, and is now moving down to my hands. It is worse at night.

Any ideas?

Your symptoms seem to be associated with your currently out-of-whack thyroid.

Without seeing your labs, there's no way of knowing if your thyroid became more underactive or became slightly overactive.

It might be a good idea for you to share your labs (with ranges) and let us know if your dose was adjusted.

Sometimes, doctors look at the wrong thyroid numbers to make dosing decisions and this can actually make the patient worse.

You might want to run this by your doctor. Itchy rash can also be a sign of an allergy to something. I hope it gets better. Itching drives you crazy!

In 2009 I experienced severe hives for 5 months when my TSH levels were just a little over 5. I was then diagnosed with Hashi's...meds made the hives disappear. My endo believes the ideal TSH level is 1. I was fine up until the last 7 months. I started getting a light, reticulated (lacy) rash on my arms and legs, gained about 10 lbs. and had (and still have) this sunburned feeling under my skin. Tested for gluten allergy, but negative. Allergist believes it is Autoimmune Urticaria (hives). He claims he has several patients who experiences flare-ups every few years. I've taken Zyrtec daily and Benadryl nightly...with little relief. All the itching mis from the histamine released from the hives. I've been reading about histamine-free diets, but they SO restrictive....not ready for that yet.
