Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...

the reason I say that is that I had extremely high blood pressure for a long time. I was border line of being put on meds. I was out of work and couldn't go to Dr. regularly. After I was married, when I had my blood pressure check, I magically no long had high blood pressure and it has remained so to this day.
I've also noticed a huge reduction in occurrence of migraines since I reduced the stress in my life and started exercising more.
I sympathize with other migraine sufferers. I know how bad it can be...I used to shut myself in a dark room, put the fan on, put an ice pack on my head and wish for death. It was like someone stabbing an ice pick in my brain. Ugh!!
My biggest factor is stress... I was in an emotionally abusive marriage for 12 years and my stress was through the roof. Once I got divorced and am starting to rebuild my life, the stress has decreased dramatically and I've noticed its made a huge difference in my migraines. Finally!! :)
I've had hypothyroidism for a long time until my current DR. diagnosed me - now I'm a bit hyper but yes - I had both hypo and migraines - horrible occular migraines.
After I had a hysterectomy the migraines almost went away. Few and far between now - rather than monthly / cyclic.
Hormones can cause terrible migraines.
(thanks hawklover).
{{{hugs}}} :-)
P.S. I stopped taking vitamin A (the dry form) for awhile. I'm going back to it as well as increasing my Iron and B-12 intake. My Doc said my Iron is the one that throws things off for me.
