Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...

I take vitamin A instead of beta carotene since the body has to convert it using the hormones from the thyroid and if the thyroid isn't working properly then the body can't convert it.
It's a shame that the drug companies have managed to sustain a strong hold on the medical community to Bandage the diseases with their drugs so that now they have NO interest in curing us or even learning to give us the Vital vitamins & nutrients that our bodies were made with at its inception. You have managed to grab hold of restoring, and even curing yourself. I'd shake your hand if I could.
Congratulations to you. I can't wait to see how my supplements do! I have hope again.
I take most of those supplements, missing about 3. They have not helped me in any way with thyroid levels or symptoms, and its been about 8 years on them. I also take some that are not on your list, Selenium, lots of Omega 3, Rhodiola, sublingual B12. All these supps have not worked for me to date. If I lower my hormone dose even slightly, I become symptomatic very fast. You are very fortunate! It does not work for everyone however.
I must say, I am envious..I would love to stop..I felt better before meds. (I started 4 yrs ago Syn. and now Armour..) It's a scary thought okay!
I don't feel that I am cured, just taking some time off from the meds. I just couldn't take all of those symptoms anymore.
Gagel, It is so much more than supplements. It is about a whole way of life to make a difference in the thyroid. For example, I write with my left hand (non-dominate hand) just to use my brain in new ways just as a child does. If you think about it most of us develop hypo later in life. I am learning a difficult language and read in it whenever I can. There is more that I do also. Which if anyone is interested I will write about that when I get a few moments.
sovgrteful, I have read briefly about ornithine helping with autoimmune diseases and want to research it a little more. It would be interesting to see if it can get the antibodies down. Something I really, really want to do also although mine aren't as high as yours. So if you get time to read about it please let me know. I would be so grateful.
If you all go to Amazon and look up Guggul Gold you can read some of the reviews which are very promising. Actually, it is the herb that Myrrh comes from.
It would be great if we could all get better. It makes me so sad that so many people are suffering.:( And that the medical community keeps turning their backs on how much we are suffering from their treatments.
I will look up orthinine..
Keep us posted..
sov
4 carrots chopped
4 stalks of celery
1/2 onion chopped
1 bunch celentro leaves chopped
salt, granulated garlic
Cook these with some oil (definitely not canola which damages the thyroid) and some broth and a little bit of carrot juice for about 25 minutes.
Then add about 1 cup peas (I use frozen organic), and one large container of baby spinach.
Cook about 5 more minutes.
Wait until it cools enough to blend completely in a blender.
You can add some lemon in the bowl of soup if you like.
This soup like I said is amazing. But I always make everything from organic ingredients so that there are no toxins going into my body.
Cytomel makes me dizzy, light headed. On side effects says may make you dizzy, light headed.
Your soup sounds delicious. For the oil, I assume you use coconut?
When you say granulated garlic, what do you mean? The salt like textured garlic in a jar? That has MSG in it if thats the one. Why not use whole fresh garlic?
Do you eat this hot or cold or room temp?
I make a similar soup but without the celery or spinach. Will try this tomorrow but coconut oil and whole garlic. Thanks!
Mary, Oprah was diagnosed as hypothyroid at the Cleveland Clinic but you say she STOPPED taking her thyroid meds?? Did she give a reason?
In the soup I use olive oil. The granulated garlic is like powdered garlic just not as fine, nothing added to it. I have a hard time using regular garlic in my house since all four of my girls have bleeding disorders and garlic is a blood thinner. One of my girls will start bleeding just from me cutting it in the house with her in it.
I think that all the ingredients have a synergetic effect, because I can use the ingredients in other ways but it doesn't have the same effect as using them together.
I would love to know how Oprah did it as well. Wouldn't it be great to get different people's stories on how they got off of thyroid meds together and make it available to all. I hope that at least I can help others.
You all are beautiful people and have helped me throughout these years not feel alone just by your posts.
So its the combo of ingredients that make your soup effective. Thanks.
I had no idea that garlic was so powerful as a blood thinner. I see your point NOT using it in your household given your daughters health issues.
I did some googling on Oprah and her refusal of thyroid meds. From what I understand, its all very confusing and most likely a good amount of PR, coverup, manipulation of the information. I do not believe that she woke up with "normal" thyroid levels. There is something else going on there. She gained 40 lbs also. That is not good for anyone.
