Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
Are you on thyroid medication?
Sometimes if not always its an entire lifestyle change to make progress with any health issue. And yes, a stationary bike can really help altho now that its spring, try taking walk outdoors in the sunshine to avoid Vit. D deficiency as well as to breath fresh air.
Yeah! It's not like I can't be bothered to do these things, it's that if I do them, I'm afraid I might fall over or fall asleep in yoga class. People just don't understand what this fatigue feels like. It's horrible.
I don't have the solution, all I have is understanding because I'm there, too. *HUGS*
If you DO have the energy - try doing just small things to begin with - like getting up during a commercial on TV and shifting your weight from one foot to the other while raising your hands above your head. Then stop when commercial break is over.
Or bust a move to some music...low impact.
Gagel gave some great advice too....
Every little bit helps.
Building up stamina takes time, but you can do it! Dancing with music, basketball or other sports, anything like that is your best bet. Just grueling exercise like running on a treadmill , it's very easy to want to quit. also, it's important that you eat right before and after exercising! Google what foods you should eat about 2-4 hours before exercise, and this should help give you some energy to move.
As long as you are feeling lethargic then you will feel fat too and you most likely have LOW stamina so with these symptoms, that is why you find it difficult to do anything. I definitely felt fat when I had a weakness penetrating throughout my body.
The Armour took away the lethargy and I even began to feel lightweight on my walks. It made it easier to exercise, took away sugar cravings, easier to control tweak my diet so I could lose the extra weight.
Feeling Lethargic AND low stamina are very serious symptoms that penetrate so deep into our soul & prevents us from accomplishing anything and every thing. As long as you feel this way, do not pressure yourself to accomplish a whole lot.
With lethargy or that weakness feeling, I found it hard to lift my body outa bed in the morning; if I dropped something, it took me 3 times reaching for it, going from the parking lot at school to the building, wore me out;
I felt better with an increased T4 (Levothyroxine) but it never really helped me. When I started taking Armour (T4 & T3) then it gave me a normal stamina, feeling lethargic disappeared and I could exercise every day and I actually FELT like it.
I hope your endo can help you and give you better treatment than you're getting right now.
Now, the last week and a half I have been fighting with this viral stuff that is going around and my energy level is even worse. I am so tired of being fat, I never thought I would let myself get in this condition. They say the older you are the harder it is to lose the weight. I want to prove I can lose the weight and get back in shape!
I just graduated from college and now I really want to get serious about getting into shape.
I think it helps to encourage one another who face the same kinds of issues.
A supplement of Vitamine B (Milgamma) - I take those by mornings, with an empty stomach, or ome hours before exercising. And I feel very much more energy!
You know, Hypo causes swollen everywhere, even in your digestive system, so your body have difficulties absorbing important nutrients.
Vitamine D - because mine was very low in the exams.
A diuretic - Ok, that one is quiete controversial. I don't have it everyday...
Glutamine to help the intestin work better.
I've been in the treatment for hypothyroidism for two weeks. Since I've started, it is still very hard to do exercise, and I feel like a fat big too :( The saddest thing, even with very restrict diets, It has been imposible to lose weight so far.
And worst! I am going to live in France for 6 months by septembre, and I wanted to go feeling well with my body!
Pilates is an exercise that I can still do without difficulty, but running ( I used to run A LOT) is quite too much. I still can play tennis too, if I have my Vitamin B pill near the time of practice.
You know, even exercising, the body is still swollen. I can lose 3 or 4 kilos, but after that, I get stuck, as it is not fat, it is water!
So I think we can just hope that the treatment starts working, and do its job fast.
