Hi Everyone,

I am currently on 100 mcg. of Levoxyl. My doctor switched me to Armour, but only prescribed 30 mg. once per day. To me that sounds way low. After doing some research online, I think I should be on at least one grain to start. What do you think? Should I just start myself on the one grain, then tell him when the script runs out? I am afraid to be on such a low dose as I am pretty severely hypo.

Hi- I don't quite know the answer to this but I myself am hoping to switch to Armour. I'm sure you just want to feel better!

I have no idea about the dosages, but do you feel you can speak to your doctor about it?

I would put in a call to the office and tell them that 1 grain is the equivalent of 100 mcg of the synthetic and ask why you got half that. Maybe he goofed.

I went from 175 mcg of Levoxyl to 2 grains of Armour, and my last TSH was .6 and change. So I'm pretty close to the "upper" level but I feel okay.

If you are on 100 mcg of Levoxyl you should be on 60 mcg of Armour according to information I found on this site: http://www.armourthyroid.com/con_faqs.aspx. I hope this helps. :)

Talk to your doctor! Your trying to self medicate. Maybe you need an adjustment time to the Armour, maybe it's supposed to be increased on your next prescription. I don't understand why you would try to self medicate when you pay the doctor to help you with that.

Please don't try to self-medicate by changing the dose yourself because milligrams and micograms is not the same thing. Talk to your doctor first. Good luck.
