I get rining but not sure what its from. I have an appt with a new doctor at the end of June and need to retested I don't think at this point I'm on the right dose. Hang in there it will get better but I know its good to get all the test done. I hope that all my panic attacks are from my thyroid being off and that I will get the right does. I get in the ears. Not sure about the brain? I do have profound hearing loss.

PS I also had this same effect when on 5 mcg of Cytomel along with severe headaches. I am now on an Armour/Synthroid combo.

High-pitched ringing in your ears is called tinnitis and is VERY common. Google it for more info.

I have ringing in my ears too. It comes and goes, but I would say I have it more than I don't!

Thanks everyone for your responses. I am not much of a headache person but I have noticed over the last month that there is a high pitch ringing in my brain not ears, although I understand that the hearing is through my ears, if that makes sense. I used to have tinnitus when I was on too much Levothyroxine, usually by late afternoon the ringing was very noticeable. I just got all three of my labs back & they clearly show that I was once again becoming more hypo, so have increased the Armour again. Hopefully, the high pitch will go away.

Have you had an MRI of your brain?

Yes, Keeska, I have had 2 brain MRIs, one in 2008 & one May 2010. I have another one scheduled for next Tuesday since I now have face numbness on the left side & sometimes spreads to the right. I was wanting to put it off, but our insurance is changing drastically come July 1st so need to get it out of the way. It won't cost me anything since I maxed out my out-of-pocket a long time ago!

Yes. It's from too high a thyroid medication. The more it's too high, the louder the ring.

I know from having experienced this (with natural and synthetic). It can happen if your t4 is too high or if your t3 is too high. For me, it the first indicator.

I have been hyper and hypo and have ringing with both. With hyper I could not sit down for a minute, and felt like I had to keep moving.

I developed a very high pitched sound in my head or ears...I can't tell which one, about 2.5 months ago. It has been non stop 24/7 since it started. That was also the time I became reeeeallly sick and was diagnosed with HypoT. So, mine has nothing to do with the meds. Perhaps rather by the disease itself.

Since I have increased the Armour by 15 mg, the high pitch sound isn't there all the time, but usually by bedtime. I'm sure it is most noticeable because of the quietness. Of course, I also have a lot of heart pounding & have to listen to that also. Hope I can some day get the correct dosage of thyroid meds!
