I had read recently where it can make you itchy. I would bring it up for sure.

What part of your body are getting the hives? it is common with Graves... not sure with Hashi's.

I am just getting them in random areas. My hands and my legs mostly and one on my neck.

I had this happen a few times in the last 5 years and didn't think anything of it - maybe my body is trying to tell me something.

I get something similar - it's not hives though, it's type of yeast infection. It flares up around my monthly, when I'm sick (with fever) and when I'm totally stressed. I'd have your dr. check and make sure it's hives...Mine are itchy too...small, round, red blotchy...

Actually, yes. I have heard of Hashi's causing a bodily rash or sometimes an acute rash. This is an autoimmune response. But you should most definitely ask. Don't leave that info out! I don't know how the docs treat that tho. I would think if it doesn't go away or gets bad enough they would use immunosuppressants such as corticosteroids (prednisone) or something of the like.

My aunt is hypothyroid and she too suffers with hives. Cold weather triggers her hives, she cannot go outside much in the winter. Definitly ask your doctor about it tho.

7 yrs before being diagnosed I developed SKIN problems, which I never had before the symptoms started.

I had a super red face with small bumps. They did not break open, just bumps. When I walked in the dr office she said, nobody's face is that red. She was a new doctor so she spotted this right away. My previous doctor failed to see this!

My legs & arms were super dry. If I scratched, my skin would bleed, but no pain and no bumps. Along with this I had very bad dandruff. I never had dry skin before so I just related to "the change" in life. If I brushed my skin lightly with my hand, a lot flaked off like dust particles.

Lotion did not help the dryness. I used baby oil and the "itchy" somewhat diminished.
And yes, my skin itched something badly, often.

Once I got started on the synthroid, I went back to normal.

Keri, don't worry, you don't have shingles as a previous post suggested. That is herpes zoster. A very painful condition where you would be blistering, have fever, chills, some people have trouble with the muscles in the face. Unless you have that, don't worry.
