Hello all, I was just told today I have Hashi's so I thought I'd ask for some advice from all you most knowledgeable people :)
My small background: I am suspected of having ms and am going through the many years of testing for it. At my last mri with contrast dye they tested my thyroid and found my TSH to be high. My family doctor had me wait to get tested again for a month or so, meanwhile I had an awful spell I guess and went to see him, not knowing anything about hypo.
November: TSH - 6.92
January : TSH - 7.20....was put on Synthroid .25
February : TSH - 2.66
March : TSH - 3.02
May : TSH - 5.92....had an awful time then and was bumped to .50 Synthroid
I had found this forum by then and asked for Armour, he thankfully moved me to an endocrinologist and Dr. D put me on Armour ( Thyroid in Canada) at .30. I started to feel better within a week! ( I've only been on it for 2 weeks now and have no tests done yet). I asked if I could up my dose by half a pill, titrating myself and was okay'ed to do that.
Finally today I was given my TSH numbers and was told I have mild Hashi's. My family doc would not take my FT's till the last test so I have only one of those test results although I have a req for them after asking my endo to have them done. He was hesitant to get my FT3 done, said they don't usually do that one and that makes me kind of nervous about him, although I have to put myself in someones hands.
May : FT3 - 4.4 .........FT4 - 16 TSH - 5.92
Sorry for the life story, I just wanted to give as much info as I could and kind of introduce myself here. :)
My questions are, why did my TSH go from 7.2 down to 2.66 and then shoot back up to 5.92 while on Synthroid? What was going on there?
Also, how are my last FT numbers? I'm really lost at how to interpret them.

If you were with me, would you increase your dose on your own if the doctor doesn't get back with me??
I'm so glad I can get info here and on the net, my family doc was just going to leave me on the 25 of Synthroid as long as I didn't come back in to complain. I had to ask for more blood tests to be done!
Unfortunately my endo didn't really want me on Armour, and he said something too about making sure we don't drop my TSH too low as to cause bone loss. Sigh. :/
I am hoping he goes by my symptoms rather than the tests, as he seems to be a just TSH kind of guy. I'm really only interested in the FT's, I hope I can get him to be also.

The TSH test is the bane of every thyroid patient's existence. Doctors who rely on it for diagnosis and treatment cause endless suffering.

I have been diagnosed with hypoT for three years now.. I intially had a TSH level of 11.9 and was losing my hair, hence the visit to the dermatologist, that then referred me to a really hopeless endo!!
Btw. I have been losing hair and have anxiety for yrs!
Okay, while I was on Synthroid I once went from a tsh of 1.3 to 14.99 in 6 weeks (same dose!)
I asked "why" she had NO answer..
I have a new endo now..who's put me on Armour (TG!) and he has told me I have raging Hashimoto's, antibodies are in the 1,000's
So I think that flactuations are sort of expected when you have Hashis's even though back then I didn't know..

you're hypothyroid and will not get better until you're treated. You do NOT have MS.
Also, your doc is not allowed to withhold your medical information. Go to the office, sign a release that allows them to give you your test results on paper. They can't hide it that way.
