I've been battling hypothyroidism for about 10 years now... I finally went to an Endocrinologist today, instead of just being treated by my family doctor. I'm really jazzed... she's willing to work with me on adjusting my thyroid meds! I've really been wanting to try Armour Thyroid, and this doc is letting me. She also said that my synthroid levels weren't high enough... so she's increasing my total dosage. I'll be taking 75 mcg of synthroid PLUS 2 grains or 75 mcgs of armour thyroid. I am really jazzed... how hopefully I'll start having some energy and feel better! I'm so tired of feeling tired all of the time.

Has anyone else done this type of treatment, and if so, how'd it work fo you?

When I started seeing my new dr, he switched me to Armour by adding it into my Synthroid for a bit, then on to straight Armour. I vastly prefer the Armour to how I felt on Synthroid.

How long did it take for you to go straight Armour? And what differences have you noticed in your energy levels?

He changed me over completely after a month. I also have CFS and am perimenopausal, so there are a lot of factors to consider. For awhile, it seeme d liek I took 2 steps forward and one step back, as my supplements and meds were adjusted. Finally, now, I am on a higher dose than my bloodwork would indicate that I need, but my Basal Body Temp suggested that I needed. And, though I still have fatigue when I push too hard, I feel SO much better than I used to feel, and fewer sinus infections, as well. So far, this winter, I have not even had one. The Armour seems to do a much better job of keeping my levels regulated, and I have not had to go up in dosage once we got me to an optimal level. I think I have been on the 130 mgs now for almost a year. Maybe even a bit over.

wow - was just reading the posts about this - can sinus infections be related to thyroid as well - ive suffered terribly from them all my life - like i have a managed to get a cold with all the rest of of the hypo symptoms with my meds being readjusted and as per usual has settled in my sinuses - in a matter of about 2 hrs yesterday i went from cold with stuffy nose to major headache and acute sinusitus which by today appears is turning into another sinsus infection - i usually put up with them for ages b4 i see my gp as i feel like an old crank always at teh drs for my sinuses back and other arthritis symptoms - this site seems to be pulling so much together for me .... tks for the extra info.... carolyn

I keep seeing people who say that their doctors switched them over to Armour gradually. My doctor just switched me. I was on Synthroid and Cytomel one day and Armour the next. Weird!

according to this article, both your headaches and sinus infecton are symptoms of hypothyroidism.
You might do a google search, there was 190,000 hits to sinus infection and hypothyroidism... ;o)
