I had started to suspect that I was starting menopause. Then yesterday in the middle of the snow storm while everyone else was cold, I was nice and toasty warm. What a switch. Too bad we can't have hot flashes more often.

I have already went through that and took HRT then developed Graves disease. Do not know if the HRT caused it or what.

I took birth control pills fo rhalf a month during forties due to perimenopausal systems. I got a blot clot and phelbitis,and quit.

I had them for about 3 years and they are starting to go away.I'm 2 years into menopause ...trust me,they will not be so great in the summer time...:)

I don't plan on telling my doctor about it as I know that I don't want any medicines that they would probably suggest I take.

bm what is the HRT? I don't think I need any new diseases at this time.

Mary, I am so sorry you had to go through that. After every baby my doctor tried to put me on the pill, but every time I read the information and it mentioned death, I threw them away. (hence the five kids.)

Winter, thanks for the heads-up on summer. I bought a shirt that is so light and later regretted it as I thought I probably wouldn't wear it. But I think now I'll keep it just in case.

How often did you have the hot flashes?

Ninja it is hormone replacement therapy such as estrogen and progesterone. I stopped taking them a long time ago. They really mess up trying to dose for thyroid.

My endo suggests HRT bioidenticals..
She says thyroid hormone does such a number on bone density..that it helps..
I was aleady on a very low does before going to her..so I just continue..
It works for me..

At its worse,i was having them every 10 minutes....very uncomfortable but survived it.they werent the worse meno symptom for me.Id say the anxiety was worse.

I started being hot natured in my first pregnancy. Beautiful evening, very early spring, went to bed with all 4 bedroom windows wide open. During the night a cold front came through...got down to 27 degrees. Hubby was freezing, I was loving it. The next morning hubby said to me "You're not going to have a baby, you're going to have a polar bear." However, I DID notice that he didn't get up and close the windows.

I was hyperthyroid for 30 years and no doctor ever cared. So WHY do they want me to be hypo? I asked my endo and she said I was a good bargainer and gave me the dose I requested. It was like pulling teeth though, getting it out of her. You have to be your own advocate.
