Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...

I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, though I usually feel symptoms for both hypo and hyper. I am not on medication, as I try to go the natural route first. I am a strong believer in natural products. Has anyone tried any natural products for thyroid issues? Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated!

I am curious about this question as well..I went to a vitamin shop the other day and saw vitamins that were said to promote "Thyroid health" but didn't want to waste my money on it unless I knew that it was recommended.

there isn't anything out there that i know of to replace hormone therapy...that would have to be regulated by the FDA. the most "natural" thing that is out there would be the Armour brand hormone replacement. i have also read that soy products interfere with thyroid meds...so be aware! Good Luck!

See my problem is that I was diagnosed in Dec of last year and I have yet to find a doctor to medicate me..well I am waiting for some blood work results back right now..so hopefully my primary Dr. will medicate me, but my Endo wouldn't. (I have Hashi's). So I was wondering if there were any supplements I could take to help me get through the day...basically the fatigue is killer for me!

I have heard about Roex.com's products for the fatigue and low thyroid we have. One of their products is called Thyroid Support. I have not consistently tried it yet, but I hope to do so soon. You might want to check it out. Roex has a good strong line of healthy natural products, so you might want to check it out. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of anything else.....?

I have also seen supplements advertised to boost the thyroid, but I'd go with standard medication! Too much soy interferes with thyroid as does too many peanuts and broccoli (altho I read that cooked broccoli is OK). Also don't take Synthroid at the same time as calcium supplements or other vitamin pills. My pharmacist recommends one-half hour before breakfast, on an empty stomach.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
