Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
Are you feeling better on the Levo yet? When I first started, it took 10 days before I felt the benefit of the T4.
For -most- people your Free T4 should be in the upper part of the range (60-100% of range) and your Free T3 should be above 50%.
There IS a method to the madness and it takes some effort but it's worth it.
I'll post a link here (if you can't see it - please join the Hypothyroidism Resources Group - then you can see it):

Cut your cytomel dosage in half - take half in the morning, take half around your "afternoon crash" (2pm). Most report this helps alot.
Here is my suggestion: find yourself a functional medicine doctor who will prescribe Slow Release Cytomel at a compounding pharmacy. The T3 remains in your blood stream all day and you don't have to chop up your tiny pill into even tinier bits that you them forget to take on time....
I have done really well with this!
My issues with thyroid seem to now be much better. The only problem right now is low cortisol, which most doctors won't treat until/ unless you get Addison's Disease and are about to drop dead. GGGGGGGRRRRRRR.
I am FINALLY, after 3 years of this crap, convinced that I really DO need to see an endocrinologist - but I will not let that person mess with my thyroid meds.....
Hope you all are well!!!
Hugs!!!
The other day, I forgot to take my afternoon dose until supper time. I then decided to just skip it, go to bed early, and get back on track the next day. I woke up around midnight with a very irregular heart beat, lots of muscle pain, and pretty bad veritgo. By 2am I decided it was only 4 hrs early for my morning dose, so I took it. Within 5 minutes the veritgo went away and my heart settled right down. 5 minutes! About 10 minutes later all the pain went away and I finally fell back to sleep.
So, I've concluded that my irregular heart in the middle of the night is because I am out of T3 and my body is starting to suffer. I'm now taking a 3rd dose of Cytomel just before bedtime and sleeping pretty well for a change.
