First off I just want to say that I missed daily strength this week!!! My computer is at the apple store for some repairs and I haven't had a computer all week and it's been tough not being able to go online and communicate with all of you guys...This website really does help!!

Okay so my question is...Does anyone have muscle spasms?? I have been having random muscle spasms in my upper left arm and I have no idea why. (I also get them in some other places but most often its that area) It has been on and off for months now. Could this be related to my thyroid or something else? I just have NO CLUE these days what is connected to my thyroid and what isn't.

Other than that..how is everyone doing? feeling? I hope everyone is doing well!!

I just started Synthroid a couple weeks ago, but was told that it takes 8 weeks to know if the medication is working for you and if you are at the proper dosage. That is why you get your blood tested and visit your Endocrinologist every 3-6 months or so to make sure you are doing okay. If you are not on the proper dosage, the medication is not properly supporting your thyroid meaning your metabolism will still be sluggish. Whenever your dosage is in sync, your thyroid should be functioning properly meaning you will find it easier to lose weight since your body will be able to better metabolize. Just know that this medication does not cause weight loss, you will need to restrict your diet and exercise to do so. The difference is that where you may have dieted before and saw little to no results, you should see results on the medication because your thyroid is now properly functioning.

How have you been?
When you say "spasms", do you mean like pains or twitching muscles?

Have you checked into Fibromyalgia yet? I know we had talked about that before.

I have both widespread pain and muscle twitching. As you know already, I also have Fibro.

Hypothyroidism alone can cause muscle pain. I have never seen muscle twitching listed as a symptom of hypothyroidism. Both are symptoms of Fibro.

Fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism share many symptoms but hypothyroidism has a shorter list of symptoms. Also, as I've said before, the two seem to be related - many people who have one also have the other.

Hey Bdancer I did look up Fibro but I don't have 11 tender points and I really don't have constant pain....The discomfort I messaged you about went away and I haven't been feeling it lately...It does come and go but I don't think it comes enough to be considered Fibro..I still have it in the back of my mind to keep track of and take a closer look at but recently I haven't been having the pain that I spoke to you about before.
