L-Tyrosine supports thyroid function, you could try that. Also, get a second opinion, as some doctors are willing to medicate low normal patients.

Did you Dr. tell you that you must bring that level up? Do you feel bad now? I and my Dr. have found that I feel better when my levels are in the low end of the normal range so that's where I try to stay.

I'll assume you are talking the TSH test. In this case lower is better. The .90 level means your thyroid is putting out appropriate levels of hormone.

A number under .4 would be considered HYPERtyroid and you would have too much thyroid hormone a level above 5.5 would be considered HYPOthyroid or a underactive thyroid and too little thyroid hormone.

Why was the test run? Just as a normal course of bloodwork?

Carneykook-- I was diagnosed with Hypothyroism. I have was also on synthroid. I am very curious to see if the herbal Thyroidzine will work for you. Please keep me posted. I am so tired of all these meds I could scream. I don't even see the Synthroid working for me. I don't know what to do anymore.

I heard that recently they have figured out that they 'set' the levels of thyroid back in the 60's and that they don't think that it's 'correct'.. so they are treating some patients a bit earlier than other patients.

I just started working with a Naturopathic doctor because I was tired of feeling tired all the time!! I have had GI problems and was constantly exhausted despite of "normal" levels. After my PCP wanted to put me on antidepressants I went on a rampage to find out how to feel better because I knew depression was not the problem!! I started reading and doing research and was in shock with all the things doctors do not tell you about thyroid diseases.
My naturopathic doctor told me that there is a high rate of adrenal fatigue in hypothyroidism because the adrenal glands work harder in patents with low thyroid. But doctors dont treat the adrenal glands unless they are a sever problem. So long story short you either have adrenal failure or you have normal adrenal glands. They have no middle ground to support adrenal function even though adrenal fatigue causes thyroid like symptoms (fatigue, mood changes, weight gain, etc.).

She has me on a detoxifying regimen of natural herbs to start. So far I am on day number 4 & I feel 10 times better!! I am already noticing more energy and better moods J She hopes that we can eventually wean off the synthetic medications. It feels so good to be on a path to better health and to have someone who discusses how I feel instead of just trying to hand me medications to suppress the real problem.

If you have Hashimoto's.your tsh can fluctuate a lot. You need to have your Free T-4 and Free T-3 tested. These are the actual hormones in your blood stream.\and what your body is able to utilize. Most people with Hashi's have low free levels even if their tsh looks "normal." You can't go by tsh alone, not an accurate picture.

If your tsh blood test came back at .90 on the range chart...you are taking too much medication in my opinion. My TSH reading came back at 1.75 and the doctor has left me on my synthroid medication. I take .125 mg every day in the early morning at least one hour before breakfast and coffee. Are you on any medication??? if so what dose are you on? If you are not taking any medication, then I seriously doubt that you need to take any whatsoever. If you get much lower on the range scale you could end up with heart palpitations and be hyperthyroid. I would not increase your meds..that would not be wise.
