Hypothyroidism Support Group
Hypothyroidism is the disease state caused by insufficient production of thyrohormone by the thyroid gland. There are several distinct causes for chronic hypothyroidism, the most common being Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism following radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism. Advanced hypothyroidism may cause severe complications, the most serious one of which is...
We live in a state that grows a lot of rice, so that could be the particular rice they were referencing. This is bad. The article I read was reputable and the type of arsenic used is called roxarsone. Of course the EPA said it will look into the studies being done and insists that amts. of roxarsone that are allowed is not high enough to do harm. I guess we might already have some idea since the approval was made in 1944 and being used extensively since the 1960's. We shall see.
Just think, the farmer's market I go to only allows organic "home grown" vegetables, etc. and one of the seller's assured me they used no chemicals and just used chicken litter as fertilizer. I think we might be in deep doo-doo.
I will have to do more checking up on amounts, etc., but I'm not liking what I'm reading. Thank you for bringing this up. You sound like you are really on the ball and knowledgeable. If you know more than you have posted, please PM me if you'd rather not post..
I did a hair analysis a few months ago and had high levels of Arsenic and Uranium. I'm sure the uranium is from our water. (complements of the Rocky Mountains mining!!!)
I'm going to try a natural heavy metal detox with my whole family. Celentro tinture and chlorella are safe way to extract heavy metals from the body.
I eat organic for the most part. Did you happen to read if they are also feeding roxarsone to organic chickens? Now I know where I might have gotten the arsenic. (organic vegetables?) If I were inclined to say a bad word I would say a google of them now.
Thanks again for looking into it more.
It is insane for the FDA to side with companies over peoples health. They come up with a fictional amount of a toxic chemical whether it occurs organically or is synthetic and tell us what is"safe." This mythical "level" does not exist. No amount of a toxic chemical is safe. They test these chemicals on animals to figure out what is deadly and extrapolate it out to what might kill a human. They seldom test more than 1 chemical at a time. They do not consider all the other chemicals we come in contact with everyday. We have been told that certain chemicals only effect us in parts per million when they can effect us in parts per billion. It is incredibly scary. If you want to learn more about chemicals that can effect our endocrine system please check out TEDX.
From what I read when it was approved 1944 they did not understand how it might create problems (yeah, right) because they were told the bad parts of the arsenic would take a long time to break down into the bad kind. Actually, I don't remember if they were told that then or later in the '60's....or when (dang brain fog!). Anyway, the fact that they would even approve it on that condition is incredibly evil in my book. Now they're finding the chicken litter used as fertilizer with the "safe" arsenic is breaking down into the soil much faster than we were told and besides our food our water supplies could be in danger. (I'm probably repeating myself, sorry if I am.)
If you ever wonder why something with so many negative results are allowed or why some commercials on TV put a particular group of items down(public awareness my ***) ALWAYS remember to follow the money, it's that simple. The booze companies pay to run ads on TV, etc. about the horrible consequences of drugs, and the drug companies rataliate about the booze. Seems a lot of us don't realize this. I know I didn't until the "follow the money" rule finally sunk into my naive head. Sorry for getting off track and thanks for the link and I apologize to everyone about the rant. It's just that I was so mad when I thought I was really getting organic veggies and now come to find out I'm not and all my life my food has probably been setting me up for some of the problems I am having now.
I will report back here anything else I find out unless Daily Strength thinks I'm straying too far away from the reason for this forum.
NinjaMother, I will check on on organic chickens and other meats as well.
