Hello everyone,
I'm starting to get very worried, because all my lipids were flagged...clolesterol & triglycerides were "high", and the good LDL, was "low", and HDL was high. This is the 2nd test that shows high levels, and has been going on for at least 4 to 5 months...which was when I was first told I had hypothyroidism.
My endocrinologist isn't doing anythinig about after several months. She says my TSH, T4, and T3 is within range, and told me to take 2 levothyroxines every other day to see if it will bring my cholesterol down. I've been on the on the 'starting dose 'of 25 mg., But evidently it's not working, after 5 months of this. On Monday she told me to continue this regimen for another 6 weeks, and ordered more labs to see if ther will be any improvements then. Does anyone have any history of this happening to them? I was told it's definitley due to the hypothyroidism. I'm guessiing if it doesn't go down I'll have to start taking cholesterol lowering medication.
Any replies would be greatly appreciiated, as I'm fairly new to having this, and you all know much more than I do.

ps. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome, which is an autoimmune disorder, as many of you know. My 'brain fog" is getting much worse, which is very scary, of course. My memory and cognitive function, are getting really bad...even my balance and coordination is becoming way off. Is this anyone can relate to? Thanks again..Many .Blessings to you all.

And then I experienced a strange partial paralysis when I was 16 1/2 from some autoimmune disease, thought to be MS (which my Aunt has full blown) or possibly mild GBS.
I would be more concerned about your heart with the elevated lipids that trying a small dose of T3. Prolonged hypothyroidism can lead to heart disease and osteoporosis (doctors won't tell you about the osteoporosis!)
Oh, as for the T3 medication...my endocrinologist actually did tell me it causes ostesporosis--- and she's aware of my already having it severely, which added to her reluctance to prescribe it yet. But I'll check in to haivng the antibodies checked, and ask about the levels being low, on the T3's and 4's, and my TSH so high, as you said.

However, if you do have osteoproosis, I would recommend talking with your doctor about using a calcitonin inhaler or supplementing calcium while take the thyroid meds (this is what they do for post thyroid cancer patients that have to take high doses of thyroid hormone to suppress their TSH)
