Well, things were going pretty well there for a while. My numbers were up and I was managing fairly well. Then BAM - low thyroid numbers. UGH. Need an increase.

I honestly thought I had something more serious as I had forgotten just how badly hypothyroidism can make one feel (though I do not know how).

My numbers slipped below 75% of range, and I had all the usual symptoms: hair loss coming out by the handfulls, chills, pain (people don't usually list that one though I do not know why), fatigue, nausea, passing out, lack of appetite, night sweats and wanting to sleep 24/7.

Thing is, I just had these numbers checked a couple months ago and they were teetering, but not that bad. Now, BAM - hit me like a ton of bricks.

Waiting to hear from Dr. person now.

So sorry Butterfly. You truly never know when it is gonna hit. I have had thyroid disease since I was 13 and I am 68 now. It was dx as Hashimotos when I was 30. You get use to feeling better and the rug is pulled out from under you. I don't have a lot of pain myself. Just joints somedays. The fatigue and hair loss just gets worse and worse. I am seeing a psychiatrist who has put me on Wellbutrin for depression and energy boost. It is helping. I wish you well, kiddo. I hope for a quick stabilization for you this time. Stay positive. You have done it before. You will do it again!

Thanks! The doc agrees with me, so that's a big victory right there ( I do not have to fight! Yay me!). I expect I'll be back on "happy trails" very soon.

I shared because it's so easy to feel like you're the only one who fudged up (didn't stay on top of it), when it's fairly common even for us veterans.

Do you have any thoughts about what happened? Increased stress, maybe....

I wish I had a magic answer, but it's just the nature of the beast. My labs were ok for the last year or so. So, I let them slide for more than 4 months...and BAM, they were waaaaaay off.

Hi MB. Any recent changes (job, home environment, etc) that could have added stress? Or meds? I had very mild reflux recently and the doc put me on PPI. Took that for two weeks and some of my hypothyroid symptoms came back. Stopped taking it, told the doc, and am now like before.

That just plain sucks. Sorry you feel like crap. I'm not feeling so great myself. Misery loves company...but we'll get through it!

Darn tootin' we'll get through it. ;) It's all about keeping an eye out for symptoms and staying on those labs (watchful eye on the weather and all that jazz). It happens to the best of us, but it's fixable using the stuff we've learned here together. And that's really, really good news! :)

Eh, we're getting there. I suffered an injury and it's not pleasant, but I've experienced much worse. So, while I have my new dosage of meds...it's gonna take a while to be up and at 'em as I was before this injury. However, IN MY CASE, low thyroid levels increase my pain levels. So, I expect the pain factor to decrease as my thyroid levels increase. Having a doctor that listens...is such a blessing!

No, looking at my thyroid levels they were sliding a smidge here and a tad there, and I knew it would happen eventually. Who knows? With Hashimoto's stress can certainly cause a "flare", but then there are times it seem to be a bolt out of the sky, ya know?

So sorry to hear this MB!!
I am under bad stress too..and I feel it contributes big time to my numbers. You would think with my thyroid gland diminishing with every ultrasopund.. I should be more stable in my high and lows.
Did you change your dose at all?

Glad that you are changing your meds and will soon be on the mend. I completely understand the pain aspects of hashimotos. Knees have be causing me so much pain lately tears at night. I end up having to take pain pills just to sleep. Pain pills are wonderful for constipation (sarcasm)
