Just wondering if you have tried armour thyroid? I could not take the other stuff made me feel like I was going to need an er visit. Fast heart rate had trouble breathing, felt like I was losing it. On The armour thyroid I have not had any side effects. Of course everyone is different but this was my experience.

try taking an equivalent dosage of armour thyroid and see how you feel. I don't really have any other ideas, sorry

Levothyroxine is a T4 med. T4 is our storage hormone and the body converts it to T3, the active hormone.

The levels of these hormones are measured with the FreeT4 and FreeT3 tests. Everyone needs optimal levels of both to be symptom-free.

If a person is having problems with converting that T4 into T3, the FreeT4 level might be "good" (upper part of the range) but, the FreeT3 level will be too low......and the patient will have symptoms no matter what levothyroxine dose they take.

Armour is a T4/T3 combo med so there's a very good reason why people who were having trouble with levothyroxine do very well with Armour.

However, there is a T3 med called Cytomel which could be added to the levothyroxine dose to help even things out.

You obviously have some choices to optimize your treatment.

Has your doctor been checking your FreeT4 and FreeT3 levels? If yes, please post your most recent results (with ranges since they vary) and we'll help you interpret them.

If he/she hasn't been checking them, I suggest you get them checked pronto and take things from there.

btw guys, can your thyroid being low cause insomnia and severe back aching? My TSH came back and was high, so i am supposed to up my dose, but i'm worried the insomnia will get worse? I keep wondering if there is something else along with the low thyroid that is making my back ache and sleep nearly impossible even though i'm severely fatigued?

As I mentioned on your other thread, I used to wake multiple times during the night and had trouble falling back asleep when my thyroid was low.

I also had severe muscle and joint pain.

I have never heard of Armour Thyroid. Is it safe to take? What is it suppose to help with? I get a lot of fatigue and I can't seem to loss weight no matter what I do.

Armour Thyroid is one form of thyroid hormone replacement.

It is made from porcine thyroid and contains all of the hormones a human thyroid would produce.
