Oh, Snippy - no wonder you feel so horrible!

You should have been started on thyroid hormone replacement back in June at the latest. As you can see, both your FT4 and FT3 levels were below-range back then.

And, if you have the values/results straight with your August labs (FT3 .6???? YIKES!!), you are dangerously hypo. I'm so sorry your care has been mismanaged.

You've been started on a pretty hefty levothyroxine dose....possibly because the doctor(s) realize just how dangerously hypo you are.

Were you given any advice about when to take it and how (as in 1 hr before/2 hrs after last food/drink other than water and 4 hrs away from any calcium or iron supplements?)

You just might want to read the patient information leaflet you received with your prescription so you can be prepared for any adjustment symptoms you might experience.

My pharmacy was great at helping me when I picked up the medicine. So maybe now I will see my way back up and get on my feet. I have been home most of the summer and my husband told me yesterday that he was taking me back out on the road where I could get some rest and get away from some family pressures. So I guess Monday it will be open road fro me. Did go to see GP yesterday and he gave me some Tramadol for all the leg and back pain and an antidepressant he said for about a month to six weeks to help with the discomfort. The pain med helped a whole lot but have decided to take the antidepressant. I have never been a pill popper and he knows it but he said that I really needed to give it a try

Holy cow, when my levels were that low I was fainting, hurting like crazy (pain levels thru the roof) and felt EXTREMELY depressed.

I described it as feeling like someone ripped my soul out.

I hope you feel better soon, and the thyroid meds will help in six weeks or so as well.

Your labs are hideously low. Supplement accordingly and do not expect to feel better for at least 6 weeks, (more like 6 months to a year) with proper labs and dosage adjustment. Keep in touch. Your labs require much attention.

Snippy----I am on an antidepressant and I have to be careful to take it hours apart (at night) so it does not interfere with the Armour Thyroid. Also, when I had shoulder surgery a year ago and had to take pain pills those completely messed up my thyroid and the Armour did not work properly. It wasn't until after I got all healed up and off the pain meds that the thyroid got back to normal. I found out quickly that various meds can and do affect the way Armour and the thyroid meds work. I am sure because the surgery was so traumatic that the stress I was under sure didn't help any either. I wonder if Armour would help you like it did me? Best wishes....
