As for the diarrhea the only time I had a problem with that was when the dr had upped my synthroid and I had thinning hair and diarrhea (alot not constant) for 2 weeks until I asked him to check again at which point he said I was too high and lowered my dose. As for feeling better that is also for the indiv. I still have most of my orig. symptoms they havent gotten worse but havent gone away either. I hope this helps.
IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is a symptom of Hashi. Try psyllium caps(fibre), a probiotic and ground flax seed - I found all these (natural) remedies helped me a lot.
As you probably know, hashis is an autoimmune disease. There is heaps of confusion about what causes such diseases but I have done a heap of research on it and there is strong evidence that they can be related to your gut and hence your diet. I was advised to cut out all gluten and soy and limit dairy. It has really really helped me. My stomach used to make the LOUDEST noises when I ate and I felt nauseous all the time. Since cutting out gluten, I feel normal. It might also work for you.
Another autoimmune disease is coeliac disease. That can cause diarrhea. Have you been tested for that? It's not uncommon to have more than one autoimmune disease.
I hope you get to the bottom of this (pun intended). good luck.
I have autoimmune also, and in my research i keep seeing Celiac Disease come up. Google Celiac and Hypothyroid. It has been recommended that those with Thyroid Disease be tested for Celiac Disease... that is why a lot of people with thyroid problems switch to gluten free diets - but there are a lot of drawbacks to gluten free, so get tested without making any changes to your diet. If it comes back positive, go from there, but you will nto get an accurate result if you cut out the gluten before testing. I've been having bowel issues as well and there's no real pattern to it, so I am asking to be tested as well.
as for the other part of your question, I've read that in the beginning hashi's goes between hyper and hypo, but dont know about later on... ? I'm extremely hypo (tsh 242 at diag.) so no idea on hyper..
Good luck!
