Hypochondria Support Group
Hypochondria refers to excessive worry about having a serious illness. Hypochondria is often characterized by fears that minor bodily symptoms may indicate a serious illness, constant self-examination and self-diagnosis, and a preoccupation with one's body. Many individuals with hypochondriasis express doubt and disbelief in the doctors' diagnosis.
I don't know where you live, but I'm in Jersey and this allergy season has been HORRIBLE, which is probably part of my problem too. I would say you've got some allergies going on. If you're not comfortable, go to your dr. and ask for a chest xray. I used to be terrified of going to the dr., but now I just don't care because it's the reassurance I sometimes need. Not that it always sticks...you know how us hypos are. Reassured for like an hour, then the creepy thoughts start again. Anyhow, I'm sure you are OK and just suffering from allergies or a little cold, but go to your dr. if you can't come to terms. I see a psycho, logist on a regular basis, and that helps. Other than that, it's tough sometimes to cope, I know. I take ativan when needed, and just try thinking rationally. I talk a lot to my stepmother. She give great advice. Maybe there's someone in your life you could confide in too and help you talk out and rationalize what you're going through. Hang in there, and know are not alone.
Are you getting emotional support from the people in your life? Have you had a traumatic loss in your earlier life? Had anything happen to you to was out of your control??
