I have not been on this site for awhile. I was dx with Graves/Hyperthyroid/Hoshimotos (yup gotta love it) anyway the dx came in 2010 after I felt the best in years. I had lost 30 lbs after doing a biggest loser class locally and the only symptom I had was hand tremors. I thought I had Parkinsons. So hearing a thyroid issue I was releaved. Since then I have been on methomazole which started at 10 mg then to 5 mg and now 2.5 mg daily. I have included my last 3 lab results. I had a great dr and then he left. For the last two appts I have seen a new dr and she is nice and thorough but I miss my old dr. He was a little querky at times but we were on the same page. This dr seems to want to get to an end result even in her first visit with me she mentioned doing the radioactive iodine or surgery as a permanent solution. I, however, am not into either of them. I have researched and researched and the affects of radioactive iodine I do not like. She now wants me to stop the meds and see if I go in remission. The biggest issue for me is in the past 2 1/2 years I have gained all by 30 lbs back plus a few. She mentioned this to me today. I told her I have been trying (not very hard at times) but know I need to lose this weight again. However, I do not want to become Hypo either. For me, I am perfectly fine with taking this little pill and leaving well enough alone. She sounded like if I do not go in remission we could try the meds again but again I think she would like a permanent solution. So here are my last couple labs.

Free T4 - 0.9 range 0.6-1.6
No T3 done for this one not sure why
She did liver tests as well which were all good

TSH - 1.04 range same as above
Free T4- 0.7 range same as above
Free T3 - 2.5 range 2.3- 4.2

Thoughts? How do I lose weight? What if no remission? The last 3 years I have not left this control me and I have felt great. I still exercise and try to be active. I work full-time so yes I'm going to be tired at times but nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for your help.

Right now your FT4 is on the lower side of normal (the meds worked so well) and that doing the gradual reduction all the way to 1.25 mg and even lower, 0.625 mg may be needed.
But check the antibodies first. Having the Free Ts too low for the body's needs as well as being hypER makes the antibodies stay up high...
I suggest you go over to the Graves' Disease board and read up there...
How did your doctor know you have a combo of GD/HypER/Hashi's without doing any thyroid antibodies tests???

TSI - just says normal positive
TBII -36 (no range) then there is also a 2034 #
The notes I have are A Symptomatic and dx is Autoimmune Hyperthyroidism, have Grave antibodies, no brewies, goiter will decrease.
Then on 09/15/2012-
Thyroid Imbuglobin 37.6
Antibodies less than 20
TSI
TRAB (or TBII)
TPOab
TgAb
to see where you are at with these numbers to determine remission.

However the TSI and TBII are now too old and new ones now will help to see where you're at...
