I say you likely had a problem with the higher than mid range Free T3. If that's the case, treating with beta blockers helps to lower it down.

If you were hypER, the fasting number will go low. If hypO, the numbers go high because the metabolism slows down.

Was the test insulin fasting or fasting glucose, cindeeth, that was below the normal range? You said insulin fasting in your post.

I am curious because my fasting glucose was above normal range when I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism recently and has never been in the past. My a1c was borderline high, but normal range. I didn't have an insulin fasting test.

I've never been diagnosed diabetic and thought hyperthyroidism would lower glucose fasting levels. My doctor said I wasn't diabetic, but I'm wondering if this increase in serum glucose is hyperthyroid related and will resolve with treatment.

Any insight?

It was the fasting insulin test. Glucose was 94 so that's why the question. My Free T3 at the time was 4.2 at the high end of the range and the Free T4 was 1.30 in the mid range. Like I said this was 18 mos ago but wondered if the insulin should be looked at again.
