Hyperhidrosis Support Group
Primary hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Some patients afflicted with the condition experience a distinct reduction in the quality of life. Sufferers feel at a loss of control because perspiration takes place independent of temperature and emotional state.
I have read some iontophoresis reviews on another hyperhidrosis network (here: http://hyperhidrosisnetwork.com/category/hyperhidrosis-products/iontophoresis-devices/ ), and some people said that it hurts, while others feel zero pain.
I think it all depends on skin sensitivity and the machine (quality and settings). In fact, I think iontophoresis is perfect for treating hands & feet, but not as good for other areas - I never used it to treat my underarms.
IMO, you should give it a shot. If done well, it seems iontophoresis works for many people.
1: It will not start working right away. In order for my hands to get dry, I start by doing Ionto every day for about a week. During this week the sweating actually gets ALOT worse! For me the worst sweating of my life has been during the times when I am starting over with ionto. After a week or week and a half they all of a sudden become dry... COMPLETELY DRY!!!
2: Once they are dry you will need to make a maintanence schedule that works for you. The instructions from each manufacturer will give you a certain number of days that you should wait between treatments but this doesn't work for everyone. The important thing is that you do another session before the sweating starts to come back or you will have to go through another heavy sweating period with daily ionto sessions before they become dry again.
3: The water you use definitely matters! Some people say the machine doesn't work for them but it is very possibly because of the water they are using. I have used my machine in my hometown in the USA for a few years and then tried to use it in Korea and it lost its effects. Every cities water has different stuff in it and there are no studies to say what is effective and not as far as iontophoresis goes. In Korea I discovered that San Pellegrino brand sparkling mineral water worked and they sell that in many parts of the world. Now I only use that water so that I don't have to worry about whether it is going to work or not.
I hope it works!
Iontophoresis demands patience and some work until you figure out how to get the most of it. After that, it's wonderful. :) Dry, yep. ;)
I developed Hyperhidrosis about fifeteen years ago after quitting smoking. A little over one month ago I started taking omega 3 oil for other reasons. I noticed that my symptomes declined quit a bit. One of the side effect is that I feel chilly sometimes.
If any decides to try this I would appreciate any feedback. I am also open to any questions.
Just wanted to share this with you. A friend is using an electro antiperspirant, I am not sure how it works, but he said it's fantastic, magical. The results are quickly seen.
He bought it from here: http://electro-antiperspirant.ga/
Hope it helps you too!
Cheers!
