I've just had my first botox treatment for palmar HH. MY HANDS ARE DRY!!! I am very happy with the results thus far. This is a temporary treatment, but it is worth the try if you have tried everything else but surgery. If you do opt for the botox for palmar HH, you may have to have your doctor submit an authorization request to your insurance company. Your insurance co. may cover some or all of the procedure. Also, make sure you find an EXPERIENCED doctor who performs the botox injections often. The injections in the palms are similiar to the TB injection-it's a superficial injection. Yes, there is some pain, but it's temporary.

My experience: I arrived early to my appointment. The nurse took me into the room and placed my hands on a small table and placed numbing cream on my palms. She came back in about 15 minutes later and applied the numbing cream again. Then after about 10 mins. the doctor came in and began marking my palms with a purple marker in the areas that my palms sweat the most. Then she placed the injections. She placed about 35 injections in each palm. Every time an injection was made, it felt like a pinch. When the doctor finished one palm, the nurse would wipe the blood off with an alcohol wipe. I was fine. Then the second palm was finished. I was able to clench my hands. I did not have any problems, just some soreness. I was given vinyl gloves to wear to drive myself home in. When I took off the vinyl gloves and washed my hands, I noticed they were dry. As time goes by today, I notice my palms are still dry. I AM SO HAPPY! I was told this treatment may last 6 months. So we shall see. I will post again around the 6 month mark.
