Hi I wanted to write because I had a shunt in my spine, a replacement and now a brain shunt because they kept failing. I had the shunt 3 weeks ago and it seems to be removing the pressure but as of 2 days ago I started getting this feeling like a foot falling asleep except its on the right side of my brain. Like licking a 9 volt battery and it makes me dizzy constantly. Could this be a minor seizure? It seems everyone has questions and not many answers. I really wish they would have better support for this condition it really is life altering :(

Hi, I was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus and got a shunt put in 23 years ago. I just found out a few years ago that I have temporal lobe epilepsy (seizures). This may be a different type of seizure than what you are having. But I just went to my family physician here in my town that I go to for regular check-ups about it. I talked to her when I started having what I call "out of it moments." I was given both a regular EEG and a 24-hour one. This is when I was diagnosed with the epilepsy. I began taking Tegretol and have been taking it ever since and have been seizure-free. Both my doctor and I honestly don't know if it was caused by the Hydro, but it could have been. But I was able to drive pretty much right after I was diagnosed and put on the medication, so I'm sure if you go your family doctor ASAP you should be able to get some help! Good luck to you both!
