I had shunt surgery last week. The initial blockage which caused my hydro as an infant was unblocked and I may be cured. I still have a headache a week after surgery but I was told that was too be expected so I am not worried about that yet. I am out of work until at least January 19 and I have been staying with my parents since I was released from the hospital last Saturday.
I am overjoyed that my hydro may have been cured. It is something that I never thought was a possibility.
I am at the point that I feel fine except for a medium level headache, something that I have dealt with many times in the past. I am bored out of my mind. There is nothing on tv that is worth watching day in and day out. Any suggestions on ways to keep myself occupied while I am out of work. I really don't feel like reading all day and of course all my friends work during the day.

First off, congratulations! I really do hope that you are cured. Now, onto the boredom thing. I don't remember my last shunt surgery. I was five when it happened and I'm 21 now. But I am a veteran of many surgeries including a jaw surgery that kept me at home for six weeks. What I did in that time was read books (which I know you don't want to do all day) I did a little drawing too, but what I really loved to do was to keep a journal as well as to write short stories. It's amazing what being at home all day does for your creative juices.
