Yes, it's true that ASCUS could be anything. Your doctor is right. You wouldn't know if it's HPV unless you were tested for the virus. The virus typically isn't tested in women under 30. Apparently they don't test for HPV in women under that age because most would test positive for HPV and they don't want to cause unwarranted concern. HPV typically clears from the system within two years. About 80% of women (and probably men too) will have an HPV infection at some point in their lives. If you've had one sex partner even, it's highly possible that you have been exposed to HPV. Your boyfriend may very well have given it to you, so if you tell him don't act like it's all on you and that you are some disease carrying hoochie. You just don't know who had it and it really does not matter at this point. Practically everyone has this virus so nobody should feel bad here! Guys usually aren't affected, however there seems to be a higher rate of HPV related oral cancer in men. So this is a reason your boyfriend might ought to know. HPV 16 is typically the culprit behind oral cancer, but you have no way of knowing what type you have or even if it is indeed HPV that you have. Do try to calm down. Stress is not good for HPV. Have a positive outlook and stay healthy!

Thanks for your reply, I keep reading and reading, almost to the point where it's an addiction. I told the man i'm seeing i had an abnormal pap but didn't elaborate on anything other than they want to see me in 6 months, I didn't tell him about the possibilities. I'm beginning to think that I should. Get a weight off of my shoulders. He is under a great deal of stress also, I don't want to burden him with anything either, which could very well be nothing. My emotional health is suffering greatly. I've lost 7 or 8 lbs this last week, I have thought no good things good come of an abnormal pap. I worry that if I tell my partner I may have it and end up positive for HPV that he will leave, I definatley don't know what I would do in that instance, we have been together for around 3 months. I recently got on birth control and we have had unprotected sex. I would feel so guilt ridden if I do have HPV and I gave it to him. I understand that he may have been the one to give it to me, but I have made bad decisions in the past. I have had 3 partners that were unprotected and 1 protected prior to this man. Granted I only had sex 4 times in 2 years. Hardly promiscuos I would say. I know my health will be okay, I'm just worried about upstairs (in the head). I have never felt like this before. I am always generally happy, with a go getter attitude. I just cant seem to shake it. I don't know what to do. I am going to a well established OBGYN office on Thursday to talk with her, and go over my pap results, but it's not like she can tell me anything without doing other tests, which I'm likely to be on my period at that time. Of course it is normal. But you can't blame yourself for it. No one wants to be put through this.

You can't lose sleep and appetite over this. The more you give into this virus, the more it will haunt you. So eat, sleep, live your life as you would normally. Think of HPV as a flu, skin disorder (like eczema), chicken pox, etc. You will be cured, it's just a matter of time.

As an update, I went to the gyno on Thursday of last week, she recommended the standard 6 month waiting to see if my body takes care of it on it's own, but in the mean time, my mind has been my worst enemy. I thought when I went into the gyno and requested an STD check I was getting checked for the full range of STDs and not just chlamydia and gonerrhea. Come to find out that is all they tested me for, I have never had a comprehensive STD test. the good news is I'm clear from that. I also asked the doctor for a complete STD test on thursday. A blood test to see if i have HEP, HIV or syphilis. results will be in about a week. She didn't think that a herpes test was necessary, because I didn't have any visible symptoms. I can't help but think to myself, because I have had 4 unprotected partners, I could be one of the many who have herpes but just don't know it. I am regretting my past decisions as to being so careless and the only thing I was worried about was getting pregnant. The thought of STD's never crossed my mind, after doing a quick inspection of my partners. I just simply didn't know that soooo many STDs are symptomless. I have been distancing myself from those who care about me, entering a deep depression and severe anxiety attacks, somewhat of a panic attack. I keep reading up on everything STD related. Statistically it seems like I could have something more than HPV which is at the back of my mind right now. I'm not myself. and I don't know what to do.

If you've been with 4 people, unprotected or not, I can pretty much guarantee you have HPV. But who doesn't these days? Don't feel bad because, hey, it's normal. I really hope your other tests come out okay. I think they will. Hep C usually is a result of sharing needles. I believe Syphilis is very rare in modern day society. HIV is certainly a concern understandably, but I really doubt you will come up positive with that one. Herpes is fairly common, but your doctor is right. There is no point in getting a blood test because it won't tell you the location of the Herpes. Most people do have some form of oral herpes, so I don't know why people are freaking out about that all the time. Apparently most Herpes carriers are symptomless. Well if you're one of those just be glad you don't have to deal with it and I wouldn't worry about it! Hang in there. I really think you're going to be okay!

My tests came back as negative.... That releif has been lifted off of my shoulder. I really deep down don't think I have herpes, I think it's the guilt of my recklessness that almost i think that I deserve something. I am struggling with letting go of the past. I still feel like I am tainted and worthless. I don't know if I can ever be sexual again. After all of this, it seems like it's not worth it.

hI you must stay positive! Ive been having this frequent urinating as a male for two months now after sleping with my ex hp positive girfriend.! It stopped for awhile but back again! You see it is not HIV or CANCER so it is not a death sentence!
