Acid treatment can definitely irritate the skin. I had all mine removed surgically then did a month course of acid treatment. It was so painful, burning etc. I can relate to your discomfort. There is a cream called Aldara used for the treatment of warts. I have never used this..but I do understand it too can cause irritation. I had all mine removed surgically and did not feel anything because the area was numbed at least 2yrs prior.
About them going away...it all depends on the treatment and if it successful with your own immunity.

I went through 2 cycles of Aldara. They didn't work for me. I then had the Acid treatment. It didn't hurt me or anything. However, I recently got a new wart. I got fed up with the Aldara, and I asked my doc to prescribe condylox. I'm gonna try two cycles and if it doesn't disappear, I'm gonna try another dose of the acid treatment.

I'm starting off with condylox. So far it seems to have made the smaller ones dissapear and the bigger ones I had are at least getting smaller. It does burn and irritate the skin quite a bit though.

If they don't go away I might consider acid treatment or freezing them off but I've heard that this is painful and can leave scars. My doctor told me that they can use a laser to remove them with less scarring but I'm sure that's expensive so I hope this gel works.

Also, if you stay healthy and do things to boost your immune system it will help your body clear them on its own. However, I've heard that some people have them come back even after they've dissapeared or had them removed. Good news is this: on average, with some type of treatment, the virus doesn't remain active for more than 2 years. That's about as much as I know. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I was prescribed condylox and it does burn a little at first and then it itches, but the warts have started to turn white so I hope its working.

When I had a couple of warts burned off with acid, the nurse applied petroleum jelly with a q-tip around the warts first. Only the warts got burned.
