Please explain to me HPV. I have read and have been told many different explanations.
Things I have been told or read in literature given to me:
~ Is transmitted sexually
~ Can have symptoms but may not
~ Can result in abnormal pap test for young women
~ The next pap test can show normal so assumption is not always HPV
~ Can resolve itself and a person may never know they have been affected
~ As long as monitored fertility should not be an issue
~ Pap test are not being done for young women under 21 because of the body's ability to reabsorb the virus so it results in many un-neccesary teast and anxiety
~ HPV test are not typically done on women under 30 because of the last statement
Please clarify:
~ What treatment is offered for young adults with 2 abnormal pap test and an abnormal colpo test
~ How long does it take the body to reabsorb
~ If pap test or colpo show no abnormalities after showing them then what?
~ What about the Guardasil vaccine, are there any reported cases of this causing HPV?
~ How can doctor's assume it is HPV w/o doing an HPV test?
~ When this is resolved will I always need to inform future doctors and future partners (if any as in commited relationship with partner who knows - protection and bc being used) of this?
~ Should my current partner be tested, can he be tested? Can we effect one another. ie pass this back and forth?
~ Why do doctors fight to do futher test/procedures stating insurance reasons even after confirmation by insurance is made?
I have to also comment that if this is so previlant in young women and young men then why so some medical staff (doctors and nurses both) treat young patients like they are nasty people who have sex with anyone? A misstake was made one time and now this.

~ How can doctor's assume it is HPV w/o doing an HPV test? HPV CAN SHOW UP (I THINK) IN YOUR PAP SMEAR. IF YOU HAVE LOW RISK HPV, AND GET GENITAL WARTS, THEN IT IS JUST OBVIOUS.
~ When this is resolved will I always need to inform future doctors and future partners (if any as in commited relationship with partner who knows - protection and bc being used) of this? I WOULD ALWAYS INFORM YOUR DOCTOR. IT IS YOUR CHOICE ABOUT YOUR PARTNER. I PERSONALLY WOULD, BUT IF YOU ARE CLEAR, AND BEEN CLEAR FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS, I WOULDN'T WORRY.
~ Should my current partner be tested, can he be tested? Can we effect one another. ie pass this back and forth? THERE ARE NO HPV TESTS FOR MEN. AND YOU CANNOT PASS THE SAME STRAIN BACK AND FORTH...:)

IF A DOCTOR IS MAKING YOU FEEL LIKE THIS, FIND A NEW ONE. THAT IS RUDE AND WRONG. I WILL STATE THAT I AM 30 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD 8 PARTNERS IN MY LIFETIME...I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS FROM ANY OF THEM. I AM NOT A SLUT, WHORE NOR AM I DIRTY. NONE OF US ARE. MORE PEOPLE HAVE THIS THAN ACTUALLY EVEN KNOW THEY DO. IT IS 80%. YOU CAN EVEN USE A CONDOM AND STILL GET THIS! UGH! DOCTORS!!! ((((hugs))))
