Human papillomavirus is a diverse group of DNA-based viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes of humans. More than 100 different human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized. Some HPV types cause benign skin warts, or papillomas, for which the virus family is named. HPVs associated with the development of such "common warts" are transmitted...

Ive had HPV for over 4 years with no symptoms for over 2 years. I've even been tested during a routine gyn exam and the results come back negative(knock on wood for the future). I obviously have HPV still and of course want to be open about this to potential sexual partners...does anyone have any advice on how to bring up the subject? I've never had to before and I of course would never engage in any sexual activity w/anyone until I have.

June 87 and a26m thank you both for your responses I needed to see them. I was just diagnosed about a month ago and felt I should become a nun with all this going on. I deal with cysts and now warts from HPV. Talk about down and out and I still feel eerie with it. But you two your posts hit home with how not just I'm felling but others on here. Thanks to you both

I was going to start a new thread but this one seemed perfect, I've been on this forum before and it has helped a lot reading about other peoples experiences and knowing I'm not alone. I've been struggling with a few outbreaks for the past 2 years and it seems hopeless. I don't even ask girls out on dates because if it goes far enough I know i would have to tell them. I exorcise regularly and started taking vitamins to help combat this, I have actually lost 35 pounds since I found out I have genital warts and I am grateful for that but I knew i had to take control of my health in order to take control of this virus but like I said it feels hopeless. I feel disgusting and vile, like no respectful woman would ever want to be with a guy like me and in turn from not approaching any women I am lonely and it stinks. Even if this post gets no replies it feels good to get all this out because it was building up inside and felt like I was going to explode with emotion. Thanks for listening everyone =)

OK Guys, here is the moment of truth so let me answer this question as I know I can. I recently had to tell someone that I had HPV. Here's the thing, I have genital herpes and was diagnosed with low risk HPV cells which healed on it's own. My pap and HPV results came back negative as my doctor told me it could. There are many strains of HPV. People can get healed from HPV, if they have low risk cells not warts. The warts can be lasered off, but I'm not sure if that cures it for that strain(ask your doctor). However, people can get re-infected if they are exposed to the virus again. Anyway, I dated a guy from a herpes website and we went on out first dated and started to talk about our shared condition, herpes. I literally mentioned to him that I was treated for HPV and I'm now healed from it. As it turned out, he fessed up and said that, not that he wanted to broadcast it, but he also was treated for HPV warts and had it lasered off, but did not put it on his profile. I found this as him being dishonest. I'm not seeing him anymore. So.....I say this, if you are interested in someone, ask about their sexual history. Be honest, because the longer you wait out of fear, it harder it becomes. I am bold so I discuss this on the first date to weed out the ones who only want sex. If the guy or girl sticks around after learning your truth, then they are really into you. Word of caution oral sex is still sex and it can cause throat cancer, if done on someone with HPV, so be careful. What can I say? I keep it real. Hope this helps.
