Well, I got a call from a nurse at my doctor's office today. She said that they got my PAP results back, and they were abnormal. The results showed low grade SIL with HPV. I was completely shocked! I've never had any warts or symptoms that I was aware of. I feel so dirty! I have been seeing a guy for about 5 months, and prior to him had not been intimate with anyone since my ex-husband.
They have me scheduled for a colposcopy in a week and a half and I don't even know what to do. I'm so scared! The doctor's office doesn't act like it's a big deal at all though!! The nurse was very blunt and matter of fact when she told me. They told me that it was not necessary to tell anyone or do anything different at this point. I have looked and know how common this infection is, and that most people get it at some point in their lives. We never thought it would happen to us, right?
I'm just looking for support. I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone I know about this. I don't even know how to bring it up, or who I can trust with the information. I don't want to be labeled a dirty whore, because I'm totally not! Any advice or support would be totally appreciated.

believe me, what you are going through right now will be totally different in few months. 1st of all, you have to learn more about this sucker (hpv). Both me and my gf was diagnosed for GW early this year, i was totally devastated even plan to kill myself until I got my great support and strength from my great doc and friends from this site.
It eventually will go away!! Just take care of yourself and keep yourself as healthy as possible. Please take my personal advice, stop googling on this virus and please ask your doc if you have any doubt on hpv.
most of them don't even realize that they have hpv, this is because their body will clear the virus by itself. After 5 months I have no re occurrence and my gf'w GW getting a lot better (trust me, seriously way better).
Now you have to check with your doc whether you are having high or low risk hpv, please keep posting if you have any doubt and remember we are here to help you and what you are facing is not a big deal as you thinking now. God bless you Cali123... we will pray for you.
P/S: Stop smoking, drink occasionally and take your multi vitamins and vitamin C.
I really appreciated your story, and I know that I will get past this too. And I did read somewhere about multivitamins and Vit C. As luck would have it, I had some multivitamins and another vitamin for energy and immune support sitting there not being used. I've started taking them before bed now. Fortunately for me, I never did start smoking so that's not a problem for me at all. I don't even have an occasional smoke. :)
I understand what you are going through and I just wanted to let you know that we are all here to help you. First, I think that the most important thing is for you to educate yourself as much as possible. The more you read the better you will feel about the entire situation. You are not dirty and a whore. I know I'm not so you shouldn't feel that way.
There is a good chance HPV will go away within 2 years if you take care of yourself and keep your immune system at a healthy state. Here is a link to a site where many FAQs are answered. I will pray for you and hope everything goes well. If you need to talk just send me a message.

I did call my best friend who was at stage 4 CIN at the time of diagnosis. She's healthy and happy now, so it was a big comfort. I did share the results with my partner, even though the doctor's office said I didn't need to do that. He was accepting and supportive, even offering to take me to my appointment next week. I think he's a bit in denial that I could have been infected by him though. I really thought he'd bold right out the door. It certainly wasn't an easy conversation to have but it went pretty well overall.
The doc didn't see anything really abnormal that warranted further investigation (i.e. biopsy) and asked me to return in a year. And he said that it's still nothing to worry about. I feel so much relief!
