HPV Support Group
Human papillomavirus is a diverse group of DNA-based viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes of humans. More than 100 different human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized. Some HPV types cause benign skin warts, or papillomas, for which the virus family is named. HPVs associated with the development of such "common warts" are transmitted...
Thanks
it took 4 months for another outbreak, not much only 1 popped up. The thing is, I never feel sad for myself but I feel terribly depressed when I think about my gf who suffered alot.
I believe this warts is something like plantar warts on our leg, once fully healed... it wont come back. For example, my mother used to have quite number of warts on her palm... she had a tough time to get rid of it, but once everything was gone, there is no recurrence again (same virus, different strain).
Don't worry melmm6, don't lose your hope. Eventually it'll get better soon as my doc said, and my doc also said it wont re-occur in the same place, plus the chances of recurrence are rare since our body will gradually fight this virus.
I'm sorry as I'm terribly depressed thinking about my gf, so I cant help you further to make you feel better... I just pray to God to heal my gf and let me suffer on behalf of her, I really wish so... :(
@melmm - I know I'm a hypocrite, but think of what Ryan Reynolds said as Van Wilder in the movie Van Wilder. "Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn't really get you anywhere." It doesn't always help me, but maybe it will you. Occupy your mind with something else. Surround yourself with friends or go do something you enjoy. Watch movies that force you to really pay attention. Just a thought.
@watchmen - I have a positive story I guess I have shared here a few times. Long story short, I told a woman that's my best friend whom I also have "benefits" with about my problem. She was fine with it and has only worried about how it's affected me. Her support has been amazing. All the things that bother me about me don't bother her, so sometimes I wonder why I make such a big deal out of them. I think we, as sufferers of HPV, should perhaps give people more credit in understanding and realize if some don't understand, then those particular people aren't worth the time and aren't worth knowing. Having a couple of warts or having a virus shouldn't define us. You mentioned chicken pox. Who doesn't get chicken pox? Does having chicken pox define a person? Of course not. That's ridiculous. I wish as a society we could be more forthcoming with things about us instead of being embarrassed by them. I bet in Europe, where people are more promiscuous, this probably isn't even an issue. That is just an assumption however.
