Hey Mark. When was the last time you had this checked by a doctor? It is highly unusual to present with HPV for such a long time. I'm also surprised you don't seem to respond to treatment. I'm sure there are several possibilities here. I think the possibility could be there that you were initially misdiagnosed. But the fact that your bumps grow back every time, this would most likely be attributed to having the HPV virus. Therefore if you have warts present you have an active HPV infection. I have heard of some cases where women presented with dysplasia but tested negative for HPV. Some people think that the abnormal cells may have persisted but that the virus had cleared. I think the most likely scenario in these cases are that the high risk HPV present in these women were types that were not detected by the digene test. I personally believe that you cannot have warts present and dysplasia without active HPV. Mark, since it sounds like your HPV infection has been so persistent why don't you look into a clinical trial for genital warts? http://clinicaltrials.gov/ There are actually a number of treatments being developed for HPV. Some are synthetic drugs and others are derived from natural ingredients. As I've mentioned before, Veregen green tea ointment has been found to be one of the best HPV treatments out there.

Also, even though it sounds like your immune system seems to be in working order because you don't seem to get sick, you may have an underlying condition that is making it difficult for your immune system to clear the HPV specifically. Autoimmune diseases are often the culprit. If you can, go to the doctor and get tests done to rule out any condition. Also, if you can ever manage to see a naturopathic doctor, I think they are even better than medical doctors at finding underlying conditions.

I want to chime in as well and concur that you should maybe see another physician. Given your other posts, you're doing everything right, and five years does seem a bit long to have this. Unfortunately, the research out there concerning men and HPV is even less than that which exists for women. It could be the strain of the virus you have (some are allegedly more difficult to clear than others), it could be that what was diagnosed as warts are actually something else more common and hopefully benign, or it could be that your body is having difficulty recognizing the virus- because HPV lives in the skin, it's apparently more difficult for the immune system to acknowledge it and develop antibodies to clear it. If you've been seeing the same doctor this entire time, I might seriously consider seeing someone else for another opinion. Good luck, and keep us posted!
