HPV Support Group
Human papillomavirus is a diverse group of DNA-based viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes of humans. More than 100 different human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized. Some HPV types cause benign skin warts, or papillomas, for which the virus family is named. HPVs associated with the development of such "common warts" are transmitted...
Has anyone else found their doctors unwilling or less than enthusiastic to treat them? My doctor got me all hyped up about TCA and told me it would be the worst pain of my entire life and tried to talk me out of it (to give some background, I have a really high pain tolerance. Tattoos/piercings don't even phase me) She "compromised" with me by saying "I'll treat the ones that really bother you." Hello! They all really bother me! I had some internal ones that I didn't want to try ACV on so I let her do those.
I'm reluctant to go back due to my doc's reluctance to treat tho. Have any females gone to a DERMATOLOGIST for TCA/Cryo? I love my derm and they did tell me they treat it. I just feel a little odd going there over an OBYGN. :-\
Hope everyone is doing well :)
warts
Fast forward to December 2014. 2014 was a very crazy year for me. I ended a very long relationship w/ abusive partner, moved out, started dating again, reunited w/ old friends. Then my ex started harassing and stalking me so there was tons of stress for months until I got a restraining order.
I dated a bit and had sex w/ several guys then finally started seeing one guy exclusively. Unlike my past partners he was really obsessed w/ anal sex. Although I'm lightly experienced w/ anal sex, I'm not really crazy about it, plus my partner has a freakishly large endowment. We tried it several times without great success. ANYWAY guess what! December I'm getting weird feelings of itchiness and moisture in my anal area. Then one day I'm showering and feel a bump. I look and there are little warts growing out of my ass like they are coming from the inside spreading out. Total freakout obviously.
Fast forward: had surgery Feb 2015. Holy hell it hurt. He said there was a lot on the inside so I figure it had been developing without my knowledge for months last year. Spent several weeks recovering and it was a learning experience to say the least.
Good news: A few little ones have come back but they've been handled quickly w/ acid and now I'm doing Aldara. I only have one tiny visible wart but I'm going to stay on course full the full amount of time.
Of course it could come back--- I never found out if this was a recurrence of the original virus or a new one. My intuition says it is a completely new infection bc of the time frame, and the new partner(s), and the anal sex.
I feel in my heart a lot of the manifestation from this came from stress. I also feel that although my case was rather extensive internally, that I'm seeing the end of this. It seems to be fading and losing the fight. So in my mind, even though treatment is still ongoing, I feel this chapter is over. I'm functioning fine. I'm still w/ my partner. There is minor scarring but nothing I care about. And obviously I never will be asked for anal sex again!
I also had the Gardasil vaccine 6-7 years ago, and can't remember the last time I had unprotected sex. Feeling very defeated, scared, and ashamed. Appreciate all the support that's here.
Flowerslove--I hope the latest round of treatment has some positive results. So sorr you've been struggling with it for so long.
