HOPEFUL HEARTS...LIVING AGAIN AFTER THE LOSS Community Group
We are a group of people who have grieved the loss of a spouse, partner, or lover and are searching for a life without our mate. Some looking for their own identity as an individual or finding a life for themself. Some looking for companionship or a serious relationship with someone new. And some just feeling lost and unsure. We offer encouragement, support and virtual...
The person is more important than the age and only you can decide if that person is being true.
Take your time and do not rush into a relationship. Seek advice from friends, family and above all GOD. He will direct you in what direction you should go.
You cannot go wrong with his guidence.
Peace Bob
My current beau is 3 years older and I also think it is just right. It's great to be able to share an understanding of past historical and cultural events, and to share a love of the Beatles and Bob Dylan.
I've also had men much younger than myself interested, and it just wouldn't feel right to me, unless I was interested in a fling.
Why don't you try a few varied age groups and see what you like best? ;)
Good luck!
Amy
I am 51, I am healthy and young. My friends range in age of 18 to 45. I spend a lot of time playing video games, swimming, dancing and hanging out. I have no kids or grandkids...and all of my friends especially the 18-25 year olds say that I don't look, act or in any way shape or form behave like their parents and grandparents. In other words, I have been told....I'm "fun".
I have not slept with or taken any of these relationships past friendship (most of my friends are men). I am starting to think about having a relationship. I will not choose one of these guys because I treasure what we already have and don't want sex to ruin it. I am old enough t know that if you have sex with a friend and the sex ends then usually the frienship does too. In looking for a "boyfriend" my first priority is personality and sense of humor. Age has very little to do with it. My other consideration is health. I just spent the last 10 years of my life caring for someone who was extremely ill. I want someone who can keep up with me and play hard. I have lots of pent up energy...both sexual and physical. So while I don't really care how old or young you are....you do need to be able to go for a hike or swim for an hour or play dance revolution and still have enough energy to move to the bedroom and not fall asleep.
Not sure this answers your question but hope it gives you another perspective. So in my opinon age doesn't matter if it doesn't matter to you. I don't worry about what society thinks or anyone thinks. If I am having a good time and am into him and he is having a good time and is into me who cares....of course, I'm not looking to get married again or find a soulmate. I want a playmate. So this might have something else to do with your decision. If you are looking for something serious than looking at 20 year old might not work, especially if you 50 and he would want to do the whole family thing...kids, mortgage, etc., but if you are like me and just want to have a friend with benefits....someone to have a good time with then I think is isn't an issue.
Of course this is all personal choice. You need to decide for yourself what is right for you.
